Best Chili Ever. I have made this twice. The first time I didn't have some of the ingredients but made it anyway. It was delicious. The second time I made an effort to get more of the ingredients this recipe calls for and it was even better. I did make some modifications to suit my own taste. I sauteed the onions, green peppers, red peppers, and celery before adding to the beans and ground beef. Instead of bacon bits I used regular bacon. I cooked the bacon, cut it up and put it in the pot. It's such a nice treat to run in to Italian sausage and bacon when eating it. I did not add beer because I don't drink it and did not want to buy a six pack to get one can. It didn't need it anyway, the chili is fabulous. To add spicyness without it being hot I added a can of Rotel tomatoes and "Red Hot" hot sauce. Red Hot adds heat and it has a great flavor. All hot sauces do not taste good. My chili can out mild but the flavor is incredible! Thanks a lot!
