Big Fat Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie
Hearty Turkey Stew with Vegetbles
About this Cook
I started baking at 12 years old. This quickly turned into baking cookies every weekend for my dad. I enjoy baking because it brings my family pleasure in such a delicious way. Although I enjoy many different activities, baking has remained a daily thing in my life.
My favorite things to cook
Although I am a vegan in a house full of meat-atarians :) I always cook their favorites. BBQ Ribs, Mac & Cheese, Turkey with the trimmings, anything chicken, baked ham, grilled steak, shrimp. Really anything my family desires. Cool weather screams soups, chili, stews and all the traditional comfort foods. Sausage gravy with biscuits and mashed potatoes is a favorite, as is Chef John's Lasagna with garlic bread. Baking cookies, cupcakes and pies are by far my favorite things to bake. Love to try the recipes found in old cookbooks. Usually they need tweeked because of availability of certain ingredients.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Christmas goodies! Love to bake and decorate cookies with my kids. Now I have a new grandson that is going to be my inspiration in getting creative again. I can't wait to get the little guy in the kitchen!
My cooking triumphs
I've had many, my family seems to think anyway... but they are usually hungry. :)
My cooking tragedies
Oh boy, we don't want to go there!

Homemade Twinkies(R)
Very good! The cake is worth the price of admission by itself! My rating is for the recipe as written. Leaving out the cream cheese would make it 5 stars.

Easy Homemade Pie Crust
This is the best pie crust, hands down! Flaky, tender and tasty. It is precisely the same one I use, except for using a food processor to mix it, who knew! Thank you for sharing, Chef John!

Special Buttercream Frosting
This is a great recipe, not too sweet and very fluffy if you beat shortening and sugar several minutes (I beat mine around 5 minutes). It tastes just like from a bakery. Try this, you will enjoy it!
