Chili-Lime Chicken Kabobs

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2006
Simply fabulous! I skewered the chicken with lime wedges, and the pieces of chicken that were next to the lime got an extra kick of citrus! Wonderful wonderful wonderful! Also - use a Ziploc bag for the marinade... It makes for practically zero cleanup!

Spinach and Strawberry Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2006
I used equal parts sugar, vinegar and oil and it was PERFECT! Definitely use Raspberry Balsamic vinegar and olive oil for the best taste. You can even add a dash of sesame oil to enhance the sesame flavor. I don't like Poppy Seeds, so I omitted them and it was just fabulous. I've also added grilled chicken and shredded mozzarella to make it a whole meal and WOW! I've made this for everyone I know... Yum yum yum!

Spicy Baked Sweet Potato Fries

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2006
I need to experiment a little bit a little with this recipe before I can say for sure if I'd recommend it or not... I didn't cook them as long as the recipe and a lot my fries burned... I don't think I cut them unusally thin - pretty normal sized fries - but they just burned and didn't crisp up right. The flavor was great though, and I'll fiddle with the time and temperature and try again! :)

Emma's Belgian Waffles

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2007
Perfect! I made the recipe exactly as directed, plus I threw in a bunch of frozen blueberries. They were delicious! The recipe made about 12 waffles on my waffle iron (round-ish, about 6-7" in diameter) and they freeze really well! I recommend pear or apple sauce instead of syrup. Yum! :)

Actually Delicious Turkey Burgers

The name says it all! These are great - we've replaced our usual beef burgers with this recipe. I've made them 3 or 4 times and they are always a hit. Love it love it!

Garden Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2007
Wonderful! I also only needed one bottle of salad dressing. Two full bottles would have been way too much. If you're planning on having leftovers you may want to have an extra bottle on hand, because the pasta tends to soak up the dressing the longer it sits in the fridge, and you may want to re-moisten it a bit. The salad was fabulous, flexible (which I love), and a total hit with everyone at the party. Thanks!

Potato Latkes I

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2007
Just like I had when I was a kid! The key to this recipe is wringing the water out of the potatoes - its a crucial step that shouldn't be omitted. It doesn't work the best, but you can also use a good strong paper towel to wring out the potatoes if you don't have cheese cloth. The latkes were delicious and I will definitely be making them again!

Garlic Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2007
I wanted to see if something this simple really could be delicious, but I was disappointed. In the end it just tasted like boring baked chicken to me. I couldn't even really taste the garlic. It was very moist, though, so perhaps I could use this recipe to make chicken for sandwich wraps or something.

Broiled Tilapia Parmesan

Wow - this is great! I usually don't eat fish, but this recipe got such good reviews that I was willing to try it out. It's fantastic! And my favorite part? Little to no cleanup, and it cooks in ten minutes!

Flank Steak Pinwheels

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2007
Pretty good! Next time I would probably use a little less filling, because I like feta cheese, but sometimes it can be overpowering. Otherwise, great recipe! I served this with roasted red potatoes and asparagus. Thanks!

Hummus III

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2008
The first time I made this recipe (several years ago) I used the full 1/3 cup of tahini, and I hadn't made it since because I thought it was pretty unremarkable. This time I reduced the tahini to 2 tablespoons like everyone suggested, and it was perfect! Now I'm definitely going to be making this more often!

Pineapple and Banana Smoothie

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2008
I loved this recipe and I REALLY loved how quick it was! Like other reviewers, I used canned pineapple instead of fresh (a small can of crushed pineapple plus the recommended pineapple juice) and it tasted just great. It was so easy... open two cans, dump them in the blender, break up a banana on top, and throw a few ice cubes, then let 'er rip! Yummy yummy yummy.

Maple Salmon

This is the recipe that converted me to salmon! I haven't eaten fish for about 10 years now, and after making this recipe a bunch of times, I now look for excuses to eat salmon at restaurants and at home! I want some right now just thinking about it...

Teriyaki Sauce and Marinade

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2009
This is absolutely fantastic! I've made this so many times since discovering the recipe and used it for everything from a marinade for salmon to a dipping sauce to a spread for sandwiches. I thicken it with different amounts of cornstarch depending on what I'm using it for. For a glaze/marinade, I find two teaspoons of cornstarch plus enough water to dissolve it in is perfect, but I've even gone up to two tablespoons + water to make a really really thick sauce. Love this recipe!

Homemade Wonton Soup

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2011
Wonderful, amazing, delicious soup! The filling made 48 wontons for me, definitely using less than a tablespoon of filling per wrapper (maybe more like 1.5 teaspoons), using a little less than one 14-ounce package of wonton wrappers. Served this for dinner with some steamed edamame. I made a couple of small changes too: (1) I left out the shrimp (my husband is allergic) and was still thrilled with the flavor. (2) I cooked the wontons separately in boiling water in batches, then when a batch was finished I just added it to the broth+vegetables, repeating this until all were cooked. (3) I found that 8 cups of broth wasn't enough for 8 servings of soup, since there were so many wontons and veggies, so I ended up just adding some extra broth until it was more like the wonton soup I'm used to. I probably added an additional 2-3 cups total. I know that seems like a lot, but the leftovers needed it especially, since the wrappers drink up some of the broth. I will definitely be making this again!
