Baklava

Very good baklava. I have made it twice now. The second time I added 1/8 of a tsp of nutmeg. I melted the butter and used a silicone brush to brush it on. The damp tea towel over a piece of plastic wrap kept the dough easy to work with. Don't worry if you break the dough. It won't make a difference in the end.

Fresh Pear Cake - Country Cook

This cake was awesome! My husband wasn't too sure about it after the first bite, but then he raved about it and said it was the best cake ever. Really good. I enjoyed all of the changes that I made to the recipe. I used 5 pears. I'll be making it again soon when more pears from the tree are ripe.

Chicken Pot Pie III

This was an awesome pot pie. I used the Pilsbury crust that you roll out and put it in my own pie dish. I used a full can of 1/2 fat cream of mushroom and 1/2 fat cream of chicken and added some chopped mushrooms to the mix. My husband said it was better than any store bought or butcher shop pie we have purchased. With my own pie plate, there was still room for more ingredients, so I want to add in some additional vegetables next time. Thanks for the recipe!

Slow Cooker Butter Chicken

This was so good and didn't stink up the house. I used 6 chicken breasts and doubled the sauce. I made it up the night before so I didn't fry the chicken and spices. I'm sure it would have been even better if I had. I only used one can of tomato paste for the doubled sauce recipe and since I didn't have a needle and thread handy, I put the cardamom pods in a coffee filter and folded it up so it wouldn't open and then put that in once I had mixed everything. This was not very hot at all, so next time I would add some more of the red chili powder and curry paste to bring up the heat. Very good and I love coming home to dinner that is mostly made!

Miraculous Canadian Sugar Pie

This pie was very good and very sweet!! I made it one weekend and it was gone quickly. It did take longer for it to bake than the recipe said but it was worth the wait. Thanks for the great recipe.

Mexican Style Shredded Pork

This recipe is awesome! I have made it several times. I live in Canada and can't seem to find chipotle sauce, so I buy the canned chipotles and use my hand blender to make a sauce with the green chilies. I haven't made the rice, but do serve it with homemade corn tortillas. Fabulous!

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

I made this pie for my husband's birthday. He loved it and said it was better than his grandmother's in some ways. I did add 1 tsp of cinnamon as well as 1 tsp vanilla, as others had suggested and baked the bottom crust for 10 minutes. Next time I will mix the apples in with the sauce before putting in the pie shell.

Creamy Pesto Shrimp

This is one of the best meals I have ever made!! I did make it with chicken breasts and increased the marscapone to about a cup. It was so good. Restaurant quality and so easy!

Sesame Pasta Chicken Salad

This pasta is very good! I made it the first time and found it a little sweet with 3 tbsp. of sugar so this last time I used 2 tbsp. and it was a little bland so somewhere in the middle is probably good. I used whole wheat pasta and I found that sprinkling the sesame seeds over the salad before mixing is less messy than adding them to the dressing as they all stick in the container. You can add whatever veggies you like. Next time I want to add some edamame and snow peas.

Garlic Cheddar Chicken

Delicious! I used panko bread crumbs, more seasoning as others had suggested and sprinkled the cheddar cheese over the top of the chicken as it baked instead of adding it to the bread crumb mixture. I spooned extra garlic butter over the top before serving. It's even good left over!

Charley's Slow Cooker Mexican Style Meat

This recipe was very good. I used an eye of round roast that I cut into 2 inch cubes. I blended the onion, garlic and peppers with the spices and hot sauce. An hour before serving, I shredded the beef and added it back to the crock pot to absorb more of the sauce flavours. I served this with diced tomato, jalapeno, onion, and lettuce on whole wheat wraps, burrito style, which we grilled on the panini press. I found that the meat could have been spicier, so next time I will add more hot sauce.

Caribbean-Spiced Roast Chicken

I made this on the weekend using chicken breasts and Rum with lime since I didn't have regular rum. I marinated it on Saturday and bbq'd it on Sunday. The flavours are so wonderful and really permeated the chicken. I will definitely make this again. If you are using a whole chicken, make sure to lift the skin and put the spices under the skin of the breasts.

Best Ever Brisket with less salt

I made this on the weekend with the paprika and the dry mustard, after having made the original recipe a few times in the past. It was so good! The addtion of the two spices added another dimension to the flavour and having less salt made it better for us.

Tzatziki

My husband loves this recipe and told me to make sure and keep it somewhere safe. I found there to be a little too much cucumber in it and 3 cloves of garlic is definately enough. I added 3 1/2 cloves and the flavour was very strong. 2 1/2 might be better. Great recipe!

Slow Cooker Butter Chicken

I took the easy way out and just mixed all the spices with the yogurt in the crockpot, without precooking the spices with the chicken. I'm sure if I had done that the flavours would have been even better. It was still really good and satisfying. I did add fenugreek and red chili powder as many other reviewers suggested. I also added a cup of chicken stock as I was worried there wouldn't be enough liquid to keep this moist for 10 hours while I was at work. I lightly crushed the cardamom pods, as my Pakistani friend advised me to, and put them into a coffee filter, which I folded like an envelope. Once I had mixed all the ingredients together, I submerged the filter. I will definitely make this again!
