Pushing the pudge limit all of my life, so healthy cooking always takes precedence. Celiac, so no gluten i.e., wheat, rye, barley, spelt, triticale. At first it was difficult, now I am flying right along. Only issues are when travelling and eating at a private party or function, where it is more difficult to sift out the gluten. Not interested in making a fuss, so I always have a food bar stashed in my purse. I am a painter and the creativity includes the kitchen, where I have a tendency to throw things together without a recipe. If it is good, I can never duplicate it. My husband is encouraging me to play with recipes and write everything down.
My favorite things to cook
Rustic foods. Heavy on garlic, roughly chopped veggies. Roasted veg and meat, hearty stews. Mexican food.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother was from Oklahoma, so everything had a cup of white sugar and a cup of Crisco in it..... She also had a wonderful garden so I try to incorporate as many fresh market veggies and fruits into our daily diet.
My cooking triumphs
Delicious crunchy on the outside, moist on the inside gluten free bread. YAY!!!
My cooking tragedies
Thankfully, the disasters are coming fewer and farther in between. So now when one happens, it is easier to shrug off since the meal before was most likely delicious.
