Over the years my cooking has improved by leaps and bounds; so much so that I am constantly contemplating leaving my job in finance and starting a business cooking for busy people. Nothing makes me happier than to feed the people I love...the best way to compliment me is to tell my you love my food! :-)
My favorite things to cook
I'll cook just about anything that sounds yummy and is reasonably priced. I love healthy foods as well as rich foods. Since I've been living in Montreal I have been exposed to many different cultures and their foods so I experiment with a lot of different flavors and types of cuisine.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Chicken soup, roasted chicken, Italian dishes. I was taught by my grandmother how to be a very efficient cook and make everything last through as many meals as possible. I use the freezer a lot and I can local veggies/sauces in late summer. I grow my own vegetables and always minimize waste with compost and recycling.
My cooking triumphs
Asian and Italian dishes are my favorites.
My cooking tragedies
haha...the first time I tried to cook something in my first apartment I started a small kitchen fire while boiling water...I still don't know HOW I did that!

Naked Shrimp Pasta
I only gave this 3 stars because I made changes. Except for substituting a jar of homemade marinara (and leaving out the tomato paste), I followed the recipe and found it to be a bit boring soI added a touch of half-n-half, about 2 Tbsps. of cambozola cheese and some parmesan. It's a great base though and we enjoyed it very much with the additions. thanks!

Mie Goreng - Indonesian Fried Noodles
I followed the recipe exactly except I added some extra veggies and I didn't have any sweet soy sauce so I just added some brown sugar to the sauce. This was really delicious and fast...and it used up a bunch of veggies that needed to be eaten! YUM! Thanks!
