About this Cook
I am a mom of 2 boys and 1 girl. I love being a stay at home mom and enjoy making good things to eat for everyone! I like to sneak healthy alternatives into my food. We even like to grow our own vegetables. We are also a big time soup family, so I am always looking for a new soup to try.
My favorite things to cook
Finger foods or hor d'ourves. They always look like such tasty little bites and present well. Being Indian, I love to cook Indian food but don't do it often enough. Anything with vegetables. All different kinds of ethnic foods...and definitely anything sweet.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every year we all get together at my mom's house and cook Thanksgiving dinner. We have started experimenting with new variations on the old classics. It's been really fun.
My cooking triumphs
I recently held an outdoor dinner for friends and neighbors. It went very smoothly and I received many compliments on the food. Also when we have to bring something for my kids holiday parties, we bring treats related to the theme like spooky eyeballs and spider cookies for halloween or crispy christmas trees. Now every time everyone is dying to see what the kids and I have made! Also I have to say my husband is very supportive of whatever new recipe I try and also my number one fan!
My cooking tragedies
Once I was roasting a chicken for company but was in a hurry and so I turned the heat up really high. Well, the old food spills in the oven caught fire and the fire dept was called. Needless to say dinner was a disaster. The people I was having for dinner picked up a roated chicken on their way. That's the first time my company had to bring their own food!

Simple Scones
The best scones! I have made all the varieties. The cherry almond ones are my absolute favorite! I try not to make them too often because I would eat them all! I always have to make a batch of blueberry ones for my sister when she comes as she WAS addicted to the ones from starbucks! I do sometimes do without the lemon and add blueberry syrup in place of the vanilla for just blueberry scones. It gives it a little tint of color too. All in all my whole family and friends love these!

Beignets
Just made these yesterday and they were very good. I've never had actual beignets so do not have anything to compare. My kids helped "decorate" them. I gave one a brown bag with powdered sugar and one with cinnamon and sugar. Then for fun my son got a bowl of chocolate frosting we made and my daughter got a strawberry (she loves everything pink!). The whole time they kept saying how this was so much fun while their mouths were stuffed with a new beignet. Thanks for the recipe!

Asian Ginger Dressing
Just whipped up this dressing for a quick salad and wow this was great. I've had the one at Japanese restaurants and even tried another recipe for it, but this tastes sooo much better. Can't wait to try it out with a full Japapnese style dinner. I did add a teaspoon of mayo in place of some of the oil to cream it up a little easier.
