Reviewed: May 26, 2006
I love this cake! Everyone else loves it too! It's so moist. Definitely a crowd-pleaser.

Chocolate Cavity Maker Cake

Reviewed: May 26, 2006
This cake is THE best! Chocoholics will love it! I did make a few changes. I used 1 C. chocolate chips instead of two. I also substituted 1/4 C. milk and 1/4 C. coffee for the 1/2 C. of liqeur.

Broccoli Cheese Pie

Reviewed: May 26, 2006
I've made this a few times and it's a family favorite. It tastes sooo good. I modified the recipe only slightly. For the crust I used 1/4 tsp. salt instead of 1/2 tsp. I thought it was too salty. Also for the filling, I substituted light cream for the half-and-half, and added a dash of pepper.

Chicken Andouille Gumbo

Reviewed: May 27, 2006
My husband made this recipe. It took quite a while, but it was worth the wait. It looked a mess when it was done, not appetizing at all, but it tasted great!

Grandma Johnson's Scones

Reviewed: May 27, 2006
These scones are the best! A great recipe to experiment with adding raisins, currants, chocolate chips, whatever! So delicious with a good cup of tea! The dough is a bit crumbly, but I just smashed it together into a mound.

Cucumber Sandwiches II

Reviewed: May 27, 2006
These were very good. I tweaked the recipe just a bit. Used ranch-style dressing instead of Italian and sprinkled with dill and paprika for color. Next time I think I'll use Ritz crackers since I'm not a big fan of rye bread.

Wacky Cake VIII

Reviewed: May 27, 2006
This cake tasted better than I feared it would. We had ours with powdered sugar sprinkled on top. It's a great recipe to have in case you need a quick dessert and don't have a lot of ingredients on hand.

Sue's Taco Salad

Reviewed: May 27, 2006
This salad was great! I made a few changes. I used ground turkey instead of ground beef, corn tortilla chips instead of nacho ones, and catalina dressing instead of ranch. Also served it with sour cream. Great dish for a potluck!

Ali's Greek Tortellini Salad

Reviewed: May 27, 2006
This salad was wonderful! I used balsamic vinegar instead of red wine, didn't include eggs, and substituted Kalamata olives for onion. Next time I won't add the extra salt because I thought it was already salty enough with the feta cheese.

Golden Yam Brownies

Reviewed: May 30, 2006
These were very good. I substituted a sweet potato because that's all I had in the house. I also used my food processor to shred the sweet potato--it was a lot easier than using a grater. I didn't put the glaze on the brownies while they were warm, maybe that would have made them five-star. This is also more like a cake.

Asian Chicken Salad

Reviewed: May 31, 2006
This salad is really good--wonderful! I substituted balsamic vinegar for rice vinegar, pre-cooked rice noodles and a bag of baby greens for the lettuce. I think it's the dressing that gives it such great flavor. Very easy to make.

Butter Cream Frosting II

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2006
This frosting was very good. I used butter instead of margarine. It was a bit too sweet for me, so next time I'll cut the sugar a bit. I'll also try different extracts. I would suggest only making a half recipe per 13 x 9" cake. It was just way too much frosting for one cake.

Bacon Wrapped Water Chestnuts III

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2006
These were very tasty. I served them at a cookie exchange, and everyone thought they were great. I did follow some other people's suggestions and tweak the recipe. I initially baked the wraps for about 40 minutes. I also only used half the sauce that was called for. It still seemed like plenty for all the water chestnuts. I highly recommend this recipe. Very yummy!

White Chocolate and Cranberry Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2006
These cookies tasted great! I got many compliments on them. I cut down the white sugar to 1/4 C. as suggested by someone else and substituted vanilla for the brandy. My dough turned out quite crumbly though, and I had a hard time even getting the spoonfuls to stick together. Not sure what I did wrong, but they still tasted great!

Pumpkin Cream Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2006
I am not a big fan of pumpkin pie, but this one was really good! It was so easy to make too! Next time, I think I'll try a 10" pie crust. I also garnished my pie with pecan halves.

My husband made this chicken when we had company over. They loved it! The skin had a strong flavor, but it sure was tasty!

Vegan Split Pea Soup I

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2006
I cut this recipe in half because I have a smaller family. I would recommend checking the soup from time to time to make sure there's enough liquid. Mine ended up getting burnt on the bottom because there wasn't enough liquid. Otherwise it was good.

Aunt Teen's Creamy Chocolate Fudge

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2007
This fudge was easy to make and very creamy. I followed someone else's suggestion and used 1 C. semi-sweet chips, 1 C. milk chocolate chips and 1 C. dark chocolate chips. It tasted great. Will definitely make again!
