Very Good - and Kid approved! I used mostly oat flour (and I could see adding some ground flax seed for extra fiber), 2% milk, regualr semi-sweet chips, and left out the nuts because I didn't have any. Turned out great! Thanks CCL :)

Apple Oatmeal Cookies II

I have been on a mission to make the perfect healthy cookie and this is a step in the right direction. I used this recipe as a base and made several changes: 1. Butter, not margarine. 2. 1/4 tsp of almond extract along with the vanilla. 3. Used oat flour in place of whole wheat (about 1 1/4 cups) and added some ground flax seed (about 1/4 cup). 4. Added 1/2 tsp salt (this is essential and missing from the original recipe), 1/4 tsp Nutmeg and 1/2 tsp Ginger along with the Cinnamon (wich I upped to a full tsp). 5. Used closer to 2 cups of oats (old fastioned - not the quick cooking type) 6. Instead of apples I put in about 1 1/2 cups of a raw organic energy mix (seeds/nuts/raisins/crans). Holy cow! This cookie tastes amazing! Slightly cumbly but I think this has to do with the flour. I can't wait to try this with the apples too! This is a cookie you won't feel guilty about eating.

Amy's Barbecue Chicken Salad

Yum...great salad. Make as many changes as you like and it will still be awesome. I don't like cilantro so I used parsley instead. I scaled the amounts as well (we didn't need two whole heads of lettuce or quite as much dressing). Used a rotisserie chicken among other substitutions. Everyone liked this - even my 6 year old. Give it a try!

Yummy Peanut Butter Cookies

I made these last night and had to come back today to write a review. They are absolutely irresistable...I can't stop eating them. Made the recipe exactly as stated except one change: Used Butter instead of margarine (I never use margarine. yuck.) I consider myself a bit of a cookie connoisseur and these taste fabulous. Perfect texture with crispy edges/soft, chewy centers. Oops I did make one more change...I added mini peanut better melts chips (kindof like tiny reese cups) to the batter. Perfectly done in my convection oven in 7-8 min. Yum!

Szechwan Shrimp

Great Recipe! I used Fresh ginger instead of ground and added some aisan veggies at the end. I doubled all sauce ingredients except the red pepper - I kept that at 1/2 tsp. This turned out perfect. Just enough spice to be noticeable, but not so much that the kids wouldn't eat it! Super easy and even the kids gave this recipe 5 stars, I will definately be making it again.

Best Steak Marinade in Existence

Kookie, you definately deserve 5 stars for this concoction! This has been my favorite steak marinade for about 2 years now. I've used it on top sirloin, strip loin, and even my expensive ribeye steaks, and it has turned out amazing every time. I change it up a bit depending on what I have on hand, I have made it exactly as written and with various changes. Today it was strip loin steaks. I left out the lemon juice because I wanted to marinate all day (acidic ingedients like lemon can toughen meat after about 2 hours. Do try it with the Lemon though, its fabulous!). Instead I added about a teaspoon or so of dijon mustard. I used all fresh herbs and garlic, frank's red-hot, marinated about 10 hours and then threw em on the grill. Mmmmmmm...so delicious! Thank you so much for sharing this Kookie!

Lime-Marinated Grilled Salmon

This recipe is fantastic. Fresh and light, not too spicy, just perfect. I did use fresh garlic and ginger in place of ground, and I marinated Halibut filets, not Salmon. This was just right for my expensive fish - complimented the flavor of the Halibut beautifully without overpowering or drowning it in a heavy sauce. Marinate no more than 2 hours. Thanks for an amazing recipe! :)

Shepherd's Pie VI

I wanted to make this exactly as written because I wanted to rate it for how it is without any changes. I have to admit I was not able to make it EXACTLY as stated either...I had to add some garlic, worchestershire and more broth. Still ended up being just ok and somewhat bland for my taste. The potatoes are great but the beef mixture is missing something. Seems everyone else was right - this recipe needs some modifications to be a five star.

Marinated Grilled Shrimp

I was skeptical because I don't like cocktail (tomato) sauce on shrimp. However, of all the shrimp recipes I've tried this is now one of my favorites. I've made it twice, once with some changes (lime juice instead of red wine vin., more garlic, used 1/2 tsp cajun spice instead of cayenne) and both times I used clamato intead of tomato sauce. Made as stated I rate this recipe 4 stars. It is very good. With my changes I gave it 5 - and so did my guests.

Salsa Salad

Funny that this recipe is rated 5 stars but the only two reviewers haven't even tried it yet! I know I don't like cilantro but this recipe sounds so good that I thought perhaps this time I might, so I gave it a try. I was wrong. The cilantro ruined it for me. However, my friend who does like cilantro thought the salad was great. I don't like to rate a receipe that I didn't make as stated (I left out the red onion and Jalapenos only becasue I didn't have them on hand, and scaled the recipe back to about half) but in this case it seemed appropriate. My friend really liked it and I think I would too if maybe I used a smaller bit of parsley instead of the large amount of cilantro the recipe calls for. The lime juice as a dressing is really nice, but be careful with the salt.

Heavenly Angel Food Cake

This is EXACTLY how an Angel Food cake should taste! Perfect. I had to make this twice in one week because my family loved it so much. Frosted with rasberry whipped cream and finished with fresh rasberries. Light, fluffy, not too sweet...Amazing!

Zippy Summer Shrimp

Yummy yum yum! I almost never write reviews because I often change recipes to suite my tastes but this one deserves 5 stars all the way. I did as another reviewer did - I added a 1/4 cup of white wine and toned down the spice just a tad. Served over steamed broccoli, green beans and rice. It was fantastic! However, I can tell that the recipe stated as is, without any changes would be equally delicious. Give this one a try, you won't be disapointed! Thanks Rebeccadk!

Sweet and Sour Dipping Sauce

As written this is a 3 star recipe. I agree with another reviewer that said it was a bit on the sour side. Take the advice of other reviewers - more sugar/ketchup, rice vinegar, sesame oil - and you'll have a 5 star sauce.

Lemon Mushroom Herb Chicken

Great recipe. Very versatile, you can tailor it to your own taste. I used cream of chicken soup, and mixed the herbs (modified amounts) in with the sauce. Didn't use the flour at all. I'm sure that it would be great as written also. Thanks for sharing Valerie!

Beef Stroganoff III

This was the best stroganoff I have ever made and I used ground beef instead of chuck roast. I imagine it would have been even better without that substitution. Otherwise made it exactly as written and served over egg noodles. Both myself and my boyfriend (who doesn't like stroganoff) loved this. Thanks Donna! :)

Seared Ahi Tuna Steaks

Pork Chops for the Slow Cooker

I put the chops in the slow cooker in the morning before work and left them all day (about 10 hours) on low. The house smelled delicious when we got home. The chops were super tender and very flavourful. I found them to be quite salty but kids and hubby loved them. He said they had that "addictive-smokey-candied" taste. We think this recipe would be great on any cut of meat.
