Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2011
Brush the loaf w/butter or oil right after it comes out of the bread machine and cover w/dishcloth to get a nice soft crust.

They taste just like Mounds! :) Next time I make them, I plan on adding an almond in the center of some of them.

The Ultimate Beef Jerky

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2009
Freakin' awesome!!! Holy smokes I thought this was one of the best jerky recipes I'd ever had. I marinaded mine overnight and they were terrific. Also, don't forget the steak seasoning or rub to put on it at the end b/4 drying. That can definitely add a special bite to it if you want it spicy, depending on what you use.

Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies II

They were yummy and soft, about all I could ask for. Not the incredibly super best, but they were definitely good enough to make again.

White Bread For The Bread Machine

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2009
Awesome bread. This bread has the lightest consistency of any bread I've made w/my bread machine. This is definitely going to be the staple recipe for sandwich bread at our house.

Cheesy Drop Biscuits

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2009
WARNING: DO NOT USE PAPER MUFFIN CUPS!! The biscuits will just get stuck in them. I actually didn't have any sour cream on hand so I tried plain yogurt instead and they came out great!! (Aside from being stuck in the muffin cups) The flavor is absolutely scrumptious with the buttery flaky effect. Super easy and super good!!!! Oh, i also threw a whole bag of shredded cheddar cheese in mine too, 2 cups, it really added to the cheesy flavor too.

Steakhouse Wheat Bread for the Bread Machine

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2009
Holy smokes this is terrific bread! Don't let the thought of coffee scare you away from this bread. My husband hates coffee but loved this bread. A few tips: * Use unsalted butter * For machines that are 2 lbs + (like mine), scale recipe to 10 servings and set bread machine cycle for a 2 lb. loaf and I used the med crust. The bread comes out perfect!

Cinnamon Swirl Bundt Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2008
I had never made a coffee cake before and this one seemed easy enough. I was right! It took me about 15 minutes to get the batter together and then of course the additional time for baking. But I shockingly got it done in time for Sunday school before church this morning! My husband loved it and he doesn't like sweets at all! So it was a winner there. I increased the sour cream by 1/2 cup and followed another reviewer's advice and doubled the filling mix as well and used brown sugar instead of white. I also left out the nuts, not a big nut fan. Great recipe, easy to fix, and quick on top of that!

Monkey Bread I

Reviewed: May 4, 2008
I used 4 packages of biscuits, the cheap kind you find at Wal-Mart and I used a Bundt pan too b/c I heard NOT to use the Angel Food pan b/c it will drip over into your oven (not a good thing). This recipe was wonderfully yummy!!!

Italian Meatballs

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2008
I tried this recipe out b/c I forgot to add the meat to the sauce and my husband won't eat anything unless there's meat in it. I had never tried meatballs b/4 but these were amazing! And they were easy too. I combined all of the dry ingredients first and then mixed in the ground beef by hand. I baked them a little long, which made them have a crunchy coating. When I took them out, they were the perfect finger-food! We were tempted to throw all the spaghetti out and just eat meatballs! Oh, here's a tip: I didn't have any bread crumbs at hand so instead I used some Pepperidge Farms Stuffing that comes in the bag. This worked great and gave a good consistency with a hint of extra flavor.

Beer and Maple Lentil Stew

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2007
My husband loved this stew. The maple lends a hint of sweetness. I also added kielbasa to mine, which I add to just about every soup/stew that involves legumes! Makes for a good meat addition.

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2007
I was looking for an "old-fashioned" brownie recipe with a glaze-type frosting, not the typical cake-like frosting. This recipe definitely fit the bill!! These brownies are great! I shortened the bake time to 23 minutes (making really gooey brownies--the perfect kind!) and when I made the frosting exactly like the recipe stated, I didn't like the consistency, it was a little too thick. So I added just a little bit of water (maybe a 1/4 cup) and stirred it in real good and then frosted the brownies. The frosting ended up being the perfect glaze I was looking for! Great recipe and easy and quick to make.

Chewy Granola Bars

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2007
Would have been great if I had gotten the final product to stay together. Unfortunately, they just crumbled! I was rather disappointed. But, the taste was really good. They had great flavor, just not a good consistency. I even went as far as throwing them in the fridge for 2 hours, thinking that might help them stay together, at least long enough to cut them up, but it didn't work.

Pasta with Scallops, Zucchini, and Tomatoes

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2006
This was an awesome recipe. I'm not a big fan of scallops, so I used jumbo shrimp instead of the scallops. It was great!! If you use the shrimps, use the ones that are pre-cooked and throw them in to simmer for the last 5 minutes. I cut up all the ingredients about 3 hours before I actually started cooking it and it only took me about 20 minutes from start to finish. My whole family loved this dish, even our 4 year old son (who isn't real easy to please).

Best Ever Jalapeno Poppers

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2006
I've been looking for a recipe for Jalapeno poppers and this one is a restaurant specialty in my kitchen! Fresh Jalapenos work wonderful in this recipe, I got mine right out of the garden. Beware though, DEFINITELY USE GLOVES! I didn't the first time and now I be sure to. Also, I found that it's best if cooking in a skillet on the stove to use shortening and be sure that it is at least deep enough to cover the entire jalapeno and stuffing. If you don't, you'll have to "flip them" in the oil and all the stuffing bubbles out. My whole family enjoyed these little babies, including my husband, who is very hard to please! Definitely try these for your next cook out, tailgate party, or just plain snack time. They're a real treat!
