About this Cook
I am recently married and I live in Southern New Jersey. I work really long hours as a pharmacist at a retail pharmacy, so it is really hard for me to find time to cook. When I do cook however, I want excellent, restaurant quality recipes!! (I generally only try 5 stars!) I also like trying something new every time I cook, whether it just be one dish or the entire meal.
My favorite things to cook
Asian food, Casseroles, Pasta!!!!!! Anything with Southern influence. I have an obsession with starches. Most of my meals have to include rice, pasta, or potatoes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
While I was growing up, about once a week my family would get together for dumplings and butterbeans with a side of cornbread. My grandmother was the best cook. Her specialty was Southern food and I can still smell her kitchen as the food was being prepared.
My cooking triumphs
My cooking tragedies
I spent one day cooking Guiness stew in a slow-cooker only to have it coming out with ZERO flavor at all!!! My family was looking forward to that meal and it was such a disappointment. (The meat was really tender though.) Followed the recipe exactly and I still don't know what happened. Guess it was just a bad recipe.

Slow Cooker Stuffing
This is my go to recipe EVERY year and it always get rave reviews. DO NOT use all the broth that the recipe calls for! For the people that were complaining, it clearly says to use enough broth to MOISTEN the stuffing...You will then be able to add more as the stuffing dries out during cooking....this can be customized to ALL tastes by just adjusting the amount of broth. I like my stuffing moist but my husband likes it crispier so he will take a scoop from the outside of the stuffing and I will eat from the center. I also add a couple handful of cranberries to add some sweetness to the bites. You could add sausage, nuts, raisins, you name it. This is the perfect "base" recipe if you like your stuffing more complex.

Potato and Ham Soup
Made this exactly as recipe states. Very good base but a bit bland at the end, so I added Jane's Krazy Mixed-up Salt to taste and it made it over the top. One tip, dice the potatoes small, the bit's I got with large potatoes were starchy and more bland. Will def make again!

Roasted Brussels Sprouts
Oh my!!! These are fantastic. I went 30 years without ever trying a Brussel Sprout. Had them at Philly's #1 restaurant Vetri a few months ago and I am ADDICTED! This recipe was so great and SO EASY and fast. Just tailor the cook time to how well done you like them, I like them burnt!
