Me and my biggest fan
About this Cook
I grew up mostly in Indiana but moved here to the United Kingdom a little over a year ago.I just married in December of '06 and am loving all the changes. Me and my husband have 4 children between us 2 each from previous relationships and I think we are doing great in bringing our diffrent lifestyles togethier.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook mexican, but since moving I have just been loving finding recipies that let me make food from home no matter what it is. I never thought about how hard it would be to get the kinds of foods and ingredients i am used to having or i might have stayed in the states lol.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I dont know that I have one unless it getting my family to help in the kiychen and try new things. I love teaching the kids to cook and we have bake offs and such where they have to come up with their own orginal ideas and cook them and i love to learn new things from my family as well.
My cooking triumphs
Well for years cooking on top of the stove has not been my strong suit. Omlettes and fried chicken were a no no for me. Well i recently made my first batch of fried chicken and it was cooked all the way through and no smoke alarms and i Fried an egg and even though it qasent runny inside like i wanted it i was still proud that i did it. If i could just bake everything i would be happy though lol
My cooking tragedies
the first time i ever BBQ i almost burnt down my apartment and those around me. To this day my kids let me nowhere near a grill. And when i cook ontop of the stove they always grab notebooks and postion themselves around the firealarms in order to be ready to waft the smoke away . But I am learning all about tempeture control lol

Strawberry Pie II
was really good. Never made strawberry pie from scratch befor. I am gonna fiddle with it a bit and try to make it not so sweet but other then that the consistancy and texture were wonderful and it truly does hit the spot.

Extreme Banana Nut Bread 'EBNB'
Have made this many many times and i just love it. The bread is moist and the banana flavor is great. The one thing i do like to do that is diffrent is to spred the top of the lofe with honey about 10 minutes befor the bread is finished. I like a bit of crusty with my bread. Thanks for this recipie friend it has made many a person smile

American Potato Salad
This was great. My mom always tried making her own but it was usualy bland and tasteless so i always bought mine from the store. Since i moved from the states i have had to learn to do things from scratch and cant depend on my local grocer to have the short cut type things i am used to. This salad beat store brands hands down and whats great is you can play around with it and as long as you follow the basics of it you come out with a great dish everytime. Thanks for this recipie
