EAGLE BRAND® Banana Cream Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2007
I have to say this turned out awful. the taste was good, but never set up thick. ive been cooking a long time and never had a custard not set up. i followed this one to a tee, even the part about drying off the bananas. i gave it 2 stars for taste alone, but wont be making this one again.

Homemade Butter

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2007
I have to say this was easier than i thought it would be. i went to make grits this morning and realized i was out of butter, but i had heavy cream. so i thought i would give it a whirl. i had to add a tad more salt than in the recipe, but otherwise it only took me about 5 minutes with my hand mixer. for large quantities i can see needing the cuisinart. will use this again definitely!!!

Pork Chops with Pineapple Salsa

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2006
The salsa for this was divine. I would definitely marinate this much longer. Even overnight. Otherwise the meat itself did not have much flavor other than on the outside. I gave it 4 stars because of the salsa.

Absolutely Ultimate Potato Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2006
I agree with some earlier posts that this had wayyy to many flavors going on at once. I'll just stick with my own recipe. Thanks for sharing.

Not Your Every Day Smoked Pork Spare Ribs

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2006
The rub was a bit too spicy for my taste. Will omit the cayenne next time. But otherwise the flavor was wonderful. Cooked them ever so slowly in my smoker. Definitely worth the time.

Beef and Mushroom Stuffed Peppers

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2006
Only reason I gave 4 stars instead of five was because I had to tweak the spices quite a bit. Otherwise was too bland for my taste. But this was really good. Definitely use red peppers instead of green. I also added cheese into the meat mixture. Did not parboil the peppers as I was worried they might become too soft after baking them. They turned out wonderful. Nice and firm but soft enough to eat. We loved this a lot.

Jasmine Rice

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2006
I agree with an earlier post. Not an impressive flavor. Very bland. Personally I've gotten better results from just using canned seasoned chicken or beef stock. Will not make this again. Thanks for sharing.

Cilantro Cucumber Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2006
I love cucumber salad but did not like this. The cilantro was entirely too strong a flavor and choked out the cucumber. Thanks for sharing but will not make this again.

Hamburger Steak with Onions and Gravy

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2006
I usually make this a different way with a cream gravy instead of a stock gravy. This turned out nicely. I adjusted the recipe for 2lbs of hamburger and still doubled the gravy as others suggested. Definitely double the gravy. I also added extra worcestershire sauce to the meat, fresh mushrooms with the onions (which i sauteed after browning the meat), and no salt to the gravy. I used an electric skillet which worked really well on about 250 degrees for simmering the meat once you readd it to the pan. Kids loved it which counts more than anything in my book!!!

Kerry's Beany Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2006
I made this recipe as given and it turned out wonderful. Was a huge hit at my Memorial Day BBQ. I will say that it was better the second day after overnight refrigeration. I would suggest making it a day ahead so the flavors have a lot of time to blend really well. Will definitely be making this one again. Also a note, I served this cold salad along with some fresh fruit. It went exceptionally well with the fresh mango. Will probably dice some up to put directly in the salad next time!!!
