Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2012
We loved it. Added chicken broth instead of water. Biscuit dough was put in an hour before serving. I also added spices (cumin, pepper, parsley).

Restaurant Style Egg Drop Soup

I added diced water chestnuts and substituted chives for green onions. Delicious!

Classic Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2012
I made them with no changes to the recipe and they turned out great! These are not soft/chewy kind, so if that's what you prefer look for another recipe.

Key Lime Cake III

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2012
It seemed like there was way too much oil in it. It didn't hold together well and when you touched it, you had oil on your finger. I thought 1 1/3 cup was rather a large amount, and it was.

Old Fashioned Mac and Cheese

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2011
Delicious (with my few alterations)! As another reviewer suggested I switched out the Swiss cheese for cream cheese. I also didn't understand the reasoning behind layering this like lasagna. With my milk mixture still hot, I melted in the cheese food and cream cheese. I then stirred all ingredients together in the baking dish. I did not add add the "small pats of butter" either. Why all the butter when you have the cheese?!!!

Baked Potato Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2011
We LOVED this! So flavorful! I will note that we didn't have any fresh parsley, but it didn't seem to be missing anything. I stirred in the bacon and added some extra bacon pieces and green onions along with the shredded cheese to give it that baked potato look.

Pineapple Upside-Down Cake II

Reviewed: May 23, 2011
I made this cake exactly like the recipe, and did not like it. Way too dense, not enough flavor in the cake, although everybody else seemed to like it. I think I would have preferred one of the recipes that call for cake mix in the box.

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2010
This recipe is definitely replacing the one I have used for years. So good and they stay soft! I only used half the chocolate chips, the full amount would have been too much! I don't know what some of the others did that made them turn out bad (maybe cooked them too long? 10 minutes was plenty), but I made sure to use real vanilla extract, fresh soft dark brown sugar, and organic cane sugar. And since some asked, no you don't cook the pudding mix.

Corn and Black Bean Salad

Reviewed: May 5, 2010
What a good salad! I used frozen instead of canned corn and also added 3 green onions which I don't think I would have liked it as well without.

Albondigas

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2009
1 quart of water wasn't nearly enough, I had to add two more cups of water. Also I thought it lacked flavor, next time will be using beef broth instead of cubes. Because you drop in the meatballs before cooking them we were worried about the fat content. Next time I am going to use precooked ones.

Czech Cabbage Dish

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2009
Cabbage, bacon, and vinegar? I was skeptical at first but yum! I didn't need any vegetable oil since I did not drain any bacon fat which probably made it even more tasty. Definitely adding this one to my recipie collection!

Zucchini Quiche

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2009
I thought it was so-so but the man loved it. A little bland for me. It took well over an hour to cook, not 45 min. Next time I'll try cheddar instead of mozzarella to see if it gives it a little more kick.

Slow Cooker Scalloped Potatoes with Ham

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2008
This was quite good, will be making it again! I didn't add the salt since ham is salty enough. I will try using milk instead of water next time though like others have tried.

Cranberry Sauce I

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2008
This is really great cranberry sauce. The first time I made it, it had way too much orange juice flavor so I scaled it down to 1/4 cup oranage juice and 3/4 cup water. Much better!

Tangy Slow Cooker Pork Roast

Reviewed: May 29, 2008
It was really good, I especially loved the onions with it! As another reviewer suggested, I used brown sugar instead of white which I think gave a better taste.

Cabbage Roll Casserole

Reviewed: May 16, 2006
I halfed the recipie and it made plenty to fill a 9x12 dish. After only an hour it was done, I was worried the cabbage wouldn't cook like some reviews said but it was completely soft. It could use a little more flavor, next time I will add chili powder to give it a boost. I didn't think it had enough tomato sauce so I added a can of chopped tomatoes which was nice. Will make again with my revisions!
