Hot Cross Buns

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2011
These turned out really well. They came out light and fluffy. They reminded me of a cinnamon roll. I've never had hot cross buns before so I don't know if this is what they are supposed to taste like or not but I like them! After they came out of the oven I glazed a few of them with some apricot jam which added a nice sweetness.

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup

I really loved this recipe and how easy it was! I substituted chicken broth for the beer because Ididn't have any but I did everything else according to the directions and it turned out so well!

I was disappointed in this recipe. I made it exactly as specified and it wasn't anything special.

American Girl's Peach Cobbler

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2010
Absolutely amazing! I wasn't at all sure how it would turn out since it's a "diet" dessert, but it was really great. I did tweak it a bit, like some of the other reviewers. I added 1t. cinnamon and 1/2t. nutmeg. Those spices together were absolutely perfect. It is a big doughy compared to most cobblers but the flavor is so great. And you don't have to prepare peaches! I'm going to be making this a regular in my kitchen. Thanks!

Easy Southwestern Salad Dressing

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2010
I loved how easy this was. I was looking for a dressing that used the few ingredients I had on hand. I think it would be great with a chipotle style bbq.

pretty good. I used breast meat and it was very tasty.

I wasn't terribly impressed with this dish. It was alright but definitely missing something.

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Nut Muffins

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2010
These are really good. I didn't have a problem getting high muffins because I raised the temp to 400 but I think that may have made them a bit dry. Next time I will try adding sour cream. I also tossed the chocolate chips with a bit of flour to keep them from sinking to the bottom.

Apple Fritters I

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2009
This recipe was just alright for me. I was hoping for something more like the apple fritter donut I usually think of. These were good but not great. I cup up the apple instead of doing apple rings, which I did like.

Chocolate Frosting I

Reviewed: May 25, 2009
I gave this recipe 3 stars because I think it had too much sugar in it. It basically ended up like a chocolate buttercream, which I wasn't looking for. However, if you only add half of the amount of powdered sugar called for, its perfect.

Chewy Oatmeal Cookies I

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2008
I really liked this recipe. I added both chocolate and butterscotch chips to it and it was great. My husband doesn't like nuts and I didn't have any raisins so I didn't add those things, but I think that the choc. chips, raisins and nuts would be great.

Strawberry Cake I

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2008
I loved this cake! I made it for a little girl's party and everyone absolutely loved it. I expected it to be really sweet, as another reviewer stated but it wasn't overly sweet at all. I don't even like strawberry cake and I couldn't stay out of this! Excellent.

Whipping Cream Pound Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2008
This cake was alright. It was easy to make. My only complaint was that it tasted a bit like eggs. I won't make this one again I don't think. I think it might be quite good with a good buttercream or something of the like.

Pollo Fajitas

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2008
I wasn't as thrilled with this as I had hoped. It was good but it needed a little more kick. Maybe a bit more hot sauce would have helped. I added onions mushrooms and red and green bell peppers. I also used chicken breasts which lowered what little fat content there was.

Banana Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2008
These were good. I added a bit more vanilla and a little more sugar. I used about two cups of over ripe bananas from my freezer which sweetened them up. I didn't have any blueberries which is why I added the extra banana. They were good. They were a little thick so I added a bit of water to the batter. I'll make them again for sure. I'm doing weight watchers and each muffin was 2 pts.

Easy Slow Cooker French Dip

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2008
I liked this recipe, though it wasn't as exciting as I'd hoped. If you didn't actually dip the sandwich it was plain but with the dip it was really good. I might also try a coke instead of a beer because I thought it was a bit strong.

Lemon Raspberry White Chocolate Mousse Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2008
This was a really good recipe but I did make a couple of changes. I added two packets of lemon pudding mix to the cake, and to the filling, I did something easier than the recipe. I used a pint of cream, added a box of white chocolate pudding mix and frozen raspberries that I pureed to make small. It was divine! And so easy!

Eggnog Thumbprints

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2008
I made a couple of alterations to this recipe. I added about 3/4 t. nutmeg to the dough which made a nice buttery cookie with an eggnog kick. I didn't care for the icing but I also didn't have rum or extract. I think that the dough with the nutmeg and a simple water, powdered sugar icing would be great. I'll be making these again for sure.

Eileen's Spicy Gingerbread Men

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2007
I got rave reviews on these cookies. Everyone seemed to love them. They do have a stronger flavor than most gingerbread, I think. With the dough, at first it almost seemed like it was dry but I squashed it all together and it was good. I rolled it out between two pieces of parchment before I put it in the fridge and that worked great. If I'd just rolled it out on its own it probably would have been too sticky but the parchment prevented that problem. Also, I baked mine for about 6 min and people liked the fact that they were still a bit soft.

Burrito Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2007
I really liked this recipe. I haven't followed it exactly either time I followed it. I omitted the olives, and did like the other people suggested and put the beans on the tortillas. I always use ground turkey as well. Very good and versitile.
