About this Cook
A recent widower, I'm learning to cook for one. One trick that I'm learning is to prepare for two and either feast the following night, or relegate the uneaten to the freezer.
My favorite things to cook
Chinese food, and variations thereon. Italian food, because of growing up in Brooklyn, is one of my connections to my past. And of course, the Jewish foods that my mother cooked.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Love to prepare good old "Jewish Penicillin" better known as chicken soup. We had chicken soup with the attendant chicken every Friday night (the sabbath) and cold chicken on Saturday night when sundown was late and we couldn't wait for the appropriate time to warm the previous nights cooking. Making matzoh balls better than my mnother.

Gizzard Stew
It took a lot longer to cook until tender. In my kitchen, 90 minutes. I diced one small onion and added it to the reserved liquid and simmered 15 minutes before finishing step 2. All in all, a very enjoyable meal to prepare and eat. A side salad with it made a delightful meal.
