Pork Tenderloin with Mustard Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2006
I was very disappointed with this recipe. I thought that the marinade was gross and it even had an awful smell while it was cooking. The pork was nice and tender but the taste was lacking. The mustard sauce was also disappointing. I did not realize that it was going to taste like horseradish, so all in all I will NOT be making this recipe again.

Three Cheese Baked Pasta

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2006
This was great! My family enjoyed it thoroughly. I did not have provolone on hand so I just added some more mozzarella and it worked out fine. This recipe makes a very full 9 by 13 pan so lots of great leftovers.

French Peach Pie

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2006
I loved this recipe. However I did change a couple of things. I used fresh peaches, because how can you not when they are in season! I used fat free pudding and low fat sour cream and skim milk. It worked out great. I did omit the glaze part. I had no peach syrup from the can, because of the fresh peaches so I decided to scrap it altogether. It was a nice refreshing yummy tasting pie. Not heavy at all. Might try making my own crust next time.

Banana Coconut Cream Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2006
Delicious! I thought this was a very good recipe. I had never made a banana cream pie before and I thought that it was very easy. I made my own graham pie crust which is definately the way to go. The toasted coconut complimented the banana very nicely, and I LOVE coconut. My only complaint, and the reason why I did not give it five stars is because the condensed milk was not my favorite, so I will probably look for a different sauce base the next time I make it. However, great overall.

Pleasant Pork Chops

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2006
Awesome!! What a great sauce. I am not the biggest fan of pork chops but my husband loves them, so I have been trying to find a good sauce to serve them with to make them edible for myself. Well this was a great sauce. I did change a couple things though. Along with the garlic and onions I added mushrooms, which was a great accompaniment. Highly recommend some cremini's. Also I did not find it needed the full hour to simmer. I cooked them for about an hour including the browning time and found that to be perfect. Great flavor and lots of yummy sauce. My kids loved it as well. Way better than opening a can of cream of mushroom soup.

Snickerdoodles I

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2006
Awesome, awesome, awesome. I love this recipe. My friend had brought over some of her version of snickerdoodles and I thought hers were pretty good. So I thought I would try my own batch. I found this recipe and now I like snickerdoodles even more. My friends were a little dried out, but these ones were amazing. Still a little soft, just how I like a cookie to be. Thanks so much for a fabulous recipe. I'll be using this often, seeing how easy it is.

Jambalaya

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2006
Excellent! Don't get put off by not having the file powder. I didn't use it and it turned out awesome. Perfect amount of spice and flavor. I will definately be making this Jambalaya recipe again.

Veggie Pizza

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2006
Excellent!! I thought this was such a great and fresh tasting appetizer. I did change a couple things, but not much. I used a couple of tablespoons of mayo instead of the sour cream. I used a little garlic powder not salt. I also only used half the package of ranch dressing because its so strong and I found half was perfect. I didn't use celery or radishes but used different colored bell peppers. Instead of the crescent rolls, I used a flatbread which I find just easier. I guess I changed a little more than I thought. However, the overall taste was great. Lots of compliments.

Autumn Muffins

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2007
These were awesome muffins. I loved everything about them. The spice flavor was perfect. I used freshly grated nutmeg which makes such a difference. I also followed the advice of another reviewer and grated the apple. I like that much better than apple chunks. Also, I didn't have any figs so I substituted raisins which, I thought, went quite well. My whole family loved these, so I'll definitely be making them again and again.

Pastry for Double Pie-Crust

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2007
This was the perfect crust. I made it for a chicken pot pie and it worked out perfectly. I brushed the top with some egg wash and it came out a beautiful golden color. I highly recommend this one.

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2007
Simple, yet excellent. This was exactly what I was looking for. A good old fashioned CPP without having to open up a can of condensed soup. I changed one thing and it was just because I didn't have it. I used celery salt instead of celery seed and omitted half of the additional salt. It didn't seem to change any of the flavor. All in all, a perfect chicken pot pie. Thanks.

Taco Seasoning I

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2007
This couldn't have been more perfect. It is exactly like the packages. Unbelievable. I thought the spiciness was perfect, as did my husband, but my kids thought it was too spicy. So if you have children, I would half the red pepper flakes. Excellent though. I will never buy the sodium packed pouches again.

Ginger Pork Stir Fry (with Mushroom)

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2007
I was skeptical at first when I tried this because there wasn't alot to the sauce. I ended up doubling the sauce because I threw in extra veggies and I wanted to make sure there would be enough to cover everything. We didn't love the sauce. There was something missing and the rice wine was not a great flavor in it. All we could taste was the rice wine. I'm not sure if I will try this again. It didn't leave me feeling satisfied at all.

Moroccan Lentil Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2007
Love, love, love this soup. Bursting with tons of flavor. I didn't puree it and it was great. I have added some meat a couple of times (that's what my husband likes) but I love without. Wouldn't change a thing. Thanks for a great recipe.

Chicken Cordon Bleu II

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2007
Very very good! The flavor was perfect. Chicken was very moist and not dried out at all. The only thing I changed was I didn't have any white wine so I substituted apple juice. It was just as good. I also doubled the sauce so I had extra to cover the rice. I do agree that it is a bit time consuming but this is the first time I have ever done a stuffed chicken of any sort, so that could be why it took me a bit longer. Well worth the effort.

Breaded Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: May 8, 2007
This was a good recipe. My only complaint was that the pieces of pork were so small and it seemed to take me forever to cook it all. However, the flavor was very good. I will probably try it again.

Buttermilk Pound Cake II

Reviewed: May 9, 2007
Excellent! Just what I was looking for. The only thing I would change would be to lessen the cooking time. My cake was done before 90 minutes and I should have taken it out. I checked it at 80 minutes and thought it was done and decided to leave it in the extra ten, well, my cake came out a little bit dryer than I would have liked. Oh well, still tastes good.

Easy Shepherd's Pie with Garlic Romano Potatoes

Reviewed: May 9, 2007
The reason for four stars is because I only used half the recipe. I only used the mashed potato part. I was a little skeptical about the tomato sauce so I decided to make a different meat base but still use the potato recipe. The mashed potatoes are the best I have ever had on shepherd's pie. The only thing I change was the garlic. I smash one big clove and add it the the water as I'm boiling the potatoes. I find it a little less mild, but yet you can still fully taste it once you mix it with the rest of the ingredients. Don't throw the garlic out, add it to the rest of the stuff. The cheese really tops it all off. I use freshly grated parmesan and find it just as good.

Tasty Buns

Reviewed: May 30, 2007
This recipe was just alright for me. I found it to be quite heavy. Not what I wanted for a hamburger bun. However, it was still good, but I think better for dipping into soup or chili.

Marinated Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: May 31, 2007
I have to admit, when I first read this recipe I was a little skeptical, even with all the high reviews. I love cinnamon, but the ingredients just seemed like a wierd mix. Goes to show, you can never judge until you have tried. This was excellent. I followed this recipe to a tee. The only thing I did do different was I didn't have time to marinate for at least six hours. I think it ended up being only for 2 and it still was awesome. I only used one pork tenderloin and after I was done marinating, I poured the leftover marinade into a small saucepan. I heated up the sauce until it boiled for a few minutes and then I turned it down and added a tablespoon and a half of heavy cream. It was so good spooned over the grilled tenderloin. I highly recommend it. I'm making this the next time I have company over for sure. They'll be so impressed. Oh and my husband brought it to work the next day and a bunch of his co-workers thought it was amazing.
