Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2006
Absolutely delicious. I honestly don't understand some of the negative reviewers, and have a handful of questions to ask them. Surely something wasn't done quite right for them. I halved the recipe, left out the nuts, added a 1/2 tsp of salt, an extra tsp of vanilla, and cut back by 1/4 cup on the semi-sweet chocolate chips. Used vanilla pudding. (By the way, you're using the pudding mix, not prepared pudding.) I appreciated that the dough wasn't sticky, unlike Nestle Tollhouse. Rounded 52 tablespoon size balls, flattened them in my hand. Placed on parchment paper for 10 minutes, but you'll want to adjust the time to your liking. Make sure to take them out BEFORE they look done. Quite soft and yummy. I did not detect any strange aftertaste as reported by a few. A new favorite.

Beth's Spicy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2006
Oh, yum. I halved this recipe, knowing that it makes quite a deal more than the stated 36 cookies. Used all butter, and reduced the cloves to half. (I'll probably use the suggested amount next time!) I soaked the raisins in hot water to ensure that they'd remain juicy. Because these cookies will be quite flat otherwise, I'd recommend chilling the dough in between batches. At 350 F, my tablespoon sized balls took 10 minutes to be done. ( I like them on the softer side.) Made roughly 3 dozen, even after halving the recipe. This is one of the best cookies out there. So chewy!

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2006
Definitely some of the best brownies I've had. I'm curious to know how others are coming up with dry, cakey brownies, as mine were quite fudgy and moist. (I can only assume those with cakey results overbaked and/or used an electric mixer. Always mix brownies by hand.) With the exception of omitting the icing (I felt they'd be too rich with it), and substituting butter for margarine, I followed the recipe exactly and had great results.

Chococonut Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2006
These were fantastic. Since I like the idea of coconut and chocolate just a little too much, for my sake I halved this recipe. The result was crispy, chewy yuminess. My oven is a bit on the hotter side, so I only needed 8-9 minutes for a batch. Will definitely make again, maybe adding just a hint more coconut next time.

Orange Honey Garlic Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2008
Tasted excellent. Would give a 5 star rating if I didn't change things. I reduced the soy sauce to 2 tbsp so that I could actually taste the orange juice, and I added dashes of onion and garlic powder. Served over rice with broccoli and it was delicious.

Easy Pork Chop Casserole

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2008
Served over egg noodles. This was tasty, but the pork ended up very dry. Will probably make it again, but reduce the time drastically.

Mrs. Sigg's Snickerdoodles

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2006
Yum. I'm no snickerdoodle connoisseur, but these are quite good. Halved the recipe. Only change was to substitute the shortening with more butter. I recommend giving them a really, really good coating of sugar/cinnamon for the best flavor. You definitely don't want to overbake them, which would be easy to do; 8 minutes is plenty.

Chocolate Banana Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2006
Fantastic. I used extremely ripe bananas, so I didn't notice an overpowering chocolate taste at all; there was a great balance between the two flavors. The only changes to the recipe were to halve it, substitute butter for margarine, and use regular sour cream. Due to my limited pan selection, I had to use an 8x4. This turned out just fine after I omitted what I thought was an appropriate amount of batter for the pan size. I found this single, slightly smaller loaf was completely cooked after about 50 minutes. This recipe was a success and I would most definitely make it again!

Nothing terribly special here, but a great basic recipe for french toast when you need one!

Garlic Cheddar Chicken

This was very good. The only change I made was to cut back a bit on the butter. It came out very moist and flavorful. Will make again.

Gourmet Chicken Pizza

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2007
I enjoy ranch and this was only "ok" for me. Tasted rather bland, actually. I'll consider making it again, but will probably use a different kind of crust. I used refrigerated as instructed in the recipe and it tasted like chicken and cheese on biscuits.

Chocolate Mint Cookies I

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2007
Delicious! Followed recipe as it was, though I did add just a tad bit of peppermint extract after the egg. (Very minimal, but a noticable boost to the actual cookie!) They tasted like girlscout brownies.

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2006
Certainly not the 'best.' They do live up to the description; they have crispy edges and chewy middles. But texture alone can only take a cookie so far, and I thought these lacked flavor other than what the chips brought. I did use unsalted butter, but I tried to make up for it with double the salt. Oh well, the family thought they were decent. My quest for the perfect chocolate chip cookie recipe continues.
