About this Cook
I am a new mother and love cooking for my family! I am always trying new recipes and using new and interesting ingredients - my family has found this to be quite an adventure.
My favorite things to cook
I started baking when I was about 7 or 8. Since then, I have always baked a ton cookies at Christmas time. The smells and get togethers during that time seem to make all the work worthwhile. I also enjoy cooking dinner for my family (most nights). I figure that as long as I cook at home the cost of ingredients and the amount of calories don't really matter. At least we're not eating out!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every year at Christmas I make sugar cookies with butter frosting. They're expected at all the family get togethers.
My cooking triumphs
I won! I entered a cooking contest with our local newspaper and my recipe won 'best entree'. I really didn't think I stood a chance considering the competition I was up against. I hope to enter every year from now on. My recipe was Sweet Potato Enchiladas - I'll try to put my recipe on the site.
My cooking tragedies
I have had many. The most memorable was my first try at a professional buttercream recipe. Exactly how does one frost a cake with soup?

Tuna Noodle Casserole from Scratch
Tuna noodle casserole-ugh! That was what my husband said the first time I made this - then he ate it. This has become a huge hit in our home. I mostly use garlic powder instead of chopping fresh - because I hate chopping garlic. I halve the recipe for just us two. I use twice the bread crumbs because we love the crunch. Since I started making this we eat it 3-4 times a month......usually per my husband's request. His co-workers think he is crazy when he raves about tuna noodle casserole night at work. You'll love it too!
