Sloppy Joe Sandwiches

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2010
This is sooo good! If you add 1 diced green pepper & 1 diced onion when you sautee the meat, and 1 Tbs vinegar with the remaining ingredients, it tastes like Manwich, but better! Oh yeah... I only use ground turkey and no one knows the difference.

Blue Cheese Potato Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2009
My family loved this, even my picky eaters. I followed the suggestion of other reviewers and cut back on the olive oil. I added chopped celery, red pepper and chives which made for a colorful salad. Will definitely make again.

Zucchini Brownies

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2009
Excellent recipe! At first I thought I did something wrong... the mix was VERY dry & crumbly. Once you add the zucchini it moistens the mix into a batter. Brownies taste even better the next day! Now for the icing.... doesn't get much better than this! Thanks for sharing!

Bread and Celery Stuffing

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2009
This is an excellent old-fashioned stuffing recipe. If possible, stuff the turkey and bake any leftover in a casserole dish. When done, mix the two together. The only change I made was to add fresh parsley.

Scalloped Potatoes and Onions

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2008
Fabulous! I live in a household of picky eaters, but everyone loved this! I didn't need to cook it for the whole time (closer to 1hr) Wouldn't change a thing.

Garlicky Beet Delight

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2007
This is very similar to the beets my Mother makes. If you find fresh beets, don't discard the stalks! Add them to the boing water during the last 15 minutes of cooking time. Toss them together with the peeled and sliced beets. The dish tastes even better the next day! Just a footnote: I always use balsamic vinegar in the marinade and garlic powder instead of fresh

Very refreshing. Next time I'll add a minced jalapeno to spice it up.

David's Yellow Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2007
This is a great cake! Made it for my daughters b-day and used Rich Chocolate Frosting from this website. Had many compliments. I was apprehensive at first because the recipe calls for 8 egg yolks, but it really was quite good and stayed moist even after 2 days. Will definitely make again. Thanks! p.s. Try the frosting -- it was out of this world!

Man Pleasin' Jambalaya

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2007
This is really good, but if you like your Jambalaya spicy you'll need to add some heat to it. My kids don't like spicy food(yet!)so this was just right for them. To give it more flavor I added shrimp, one can of Rotel tomatoes, and used fresh mushrooms. I will definitely make this again!

Brownie Mallow Bars

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2007
I made the recipe exactly as it was written. Wonderful! The brownies were a little dry so next time I'll use a high-quality mix such as Ghirardelli.

Cinnamon Ice Cream

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2006
I made this for Thanksgiving to go with apple pie. It was sooooooo good! I made one for myself and one to take to a friends house. It was gone very quickly! The first batch was made with cinnamon that had been sitting in my cupboard for a while and it still turned out quite good (I added more than 2 tsp to compensate). I tried it again with new cinnamon and it came out fantastic! I think 2 teaspoons is the correct amount (don't use too little!). Also, it's important to cook this until it's very thick. I let mine cool on the counter then refridgerated overnight. It froze very quickly in my Cuisinart ice cream maker. I will make this every time I make an apple pie. Thank you!!!!

Kettle Corn

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2006
I've been trying to find a good kettle corn recipe for a long time. This is perfect! I think the trick is adding the sugar after the first kernal pops. I used my Whirly Pop and I've had success each time. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dijon-Tarragon Cream Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2006
Everyone loved this even my kids! I made extra sauce (using half & half instead of cream) and substituted herbes de Provence for the tarragon. I followed other suggestions and deglazed with white wine and added sliced fresh mushrooms (baby bella). I had to use a little more butter than the recipe called for. Will definitely make this again.

Becky's Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2006
This was fantastic! My husband, who has never liked chicken salad, LOVED this! I used red grapes and skipped the whipped cream altogether. The almonds add a great flavor. I'll definitely make this again, especially with leftover Thanksgiving turkey. Thanks!

Cottage Cheese Chicken Enchiladas

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2006
This was pretty good. I was a little apprehensive about using cottage cheese (not a big fan). It tasted better the next day. I would make it again but perhaps experiment using another cheese that melts better.

Mom's Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2006
Tasty & moist. Our kids run screaming whenever we mention the word zucchini, so we decided to call this Cinnamon Bread instead. It worked! Everyone loved this. Left out the nuts, and next time will use less sugar in the batter. I think it would be good with a cinnamon sugar topping. Thanks for sharing this great recipe!

Fresh Blueberry Pie II

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2006
Very flavorful pie. I added 1/4 tsp vanilla, almond extract and cinnamon. I also used more berries. Even though I forgot to add flour, it still turned out delicious! (I won't make that mistake again). It was a little running, but not a disaster. Just a note: it's important to taste the berries before you begin, so you can adjust the sugar accordingly. Will definitely make this again. Thanks!

Zucchini Pie

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2006
My husband & I loved this! The kids on the other hand were not thrilled, but will learn to like it because I plan on making it all summer! As menioned in other reviews, I shredded the zuchinni, carrot and onion. I used cherry tomatoes which I cut in half, and it made the pie very colorful. I also sprinkled cheddar cheese on top which enhanced the overall appearance. I used Italian seasoning in place of the marjoram which worked well. Next time I will use less oil. Thanks for a great recipe!!!

Asian Coconut Rice

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2006
Loved this! Served it with Chicken Satay (suggested in earlier review). Did not garnish with cilantro or toasted coconut, and was still really good. Reminded me of a dish from a Thai restaurant that made it using purple and white rice which they garnished with sliced mango, finely chopped peanuts and cilantro. Definitely will make this again.
