Mall Pretzels

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2009
My husband has been asking me to make pretzels for months now so I finally found a recipe and gave it a whirl. These were so easy to make. I used my kitchen-aid mixer and the dough came out perfect. After rising and shaping we dunked them in simmering water with baking soda, let them rise, brushed them with an egg wash and sprinkled with salt. While they baked we melted butter and brushed them when they came out of the oven. They don't taste exactly like mall pretzels but I'm sure we didn't use as much butter as they do. =)

Spanish Rice II

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2009
I wouldn't call this great but I would call it easy and good. I think I'll keep looking for the "perfect" spanish rice.

Easy Spicy Chicken and Rice

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2008
We thought this was just OK. I had to cook it almost an hour and a half to get the rice tender. It wasn't really all that spicy. We thought it was just sort of blah. Probably won't be making again.

Cake Balls

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2008
These were not as good as I was hoping. Maybe it was my cake and frosting choice...I used what I had on hand (yellow cake with chocolate frosting) and it was nothing outstanding. A whole container of frosting is WAY too much. I used 3/4 and still thought it was too much. I baked the cake, mixed it with frosting, formed the balls, froze them overnight and then dipped them in the chocolate. I'll try them one more time with a more exciting cake and frosting combination.

Big Soft Ginger Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2008
These had a great flavor but mine fell and I'm not sure why. They tasted good but they weren't as pretty as I wanted them to be. They are really good with the vanilla glaze recipe.

This is a good cookie but really no better than the recipe on the oatmeal box.

Breakfast Casserole II

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2008
We thought this was really good but I made a few alterations in a hope to make it a little healthier. I substituted 50% less fat pork sausage, I used a small carton of egg beaters and then only 4 eggs, I used probably a cup of cheese but I used sharp cheddar 2% cheese, I used fresh mushrooms instead of canned, only 1/2 cup skim milk, 98% fat free soup, and probably 20 oz of obrien hashbrowns. We changed A LOT but kept the basic recipe the same.

Meatball Sandwich

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2008
Not as good as I was hoping. I did add extra seasoning to the meatballs as others suggested but think I should have added more. It was definitely easy but if I ever make it again I will make my own sauce and add even more seasoning to the meatballs.

Roasted Brussels Sprouts

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2008
I can't personally give any brussel sprout recipe 5 stars because I just can't seem to develop a taste for them. These, however, I will make again. As far as brussel sprouts go these are the best I've had.

King Ranch Chicken Casserole III

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2008
My husband has recently started helping out in the kitchen so I found this easy recipe for him to whip together one night. It was pretty good....we served it with tortilla chips for added crunch.

Sally's Spinach Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: May 5, 2008
To be fair, I didn't follow the recipe exactly as I was hoping to cut out some calories and my husband does not like sour cream. I cut back on some cheese and used milk instead of sour cream. I think next time I may cut back on the cheese but try to sneak in the sour cream. I can see how that would make a big difference.

Greek Green Beans

Reviewed: May 5, 2008
This was a nice way to use frozen green beans from the garden. My husband said he would like to try this recipe again with green beans straight from the garden, not frozen. We used petite diced canned tomatoes for convenience...no fresh tomatoes on hand.

Whole Wheat Blueberry Pancakes

Reviewed: May 5, 2008
Not bad. I've never tried a whole wheat pancake but was specifically looking for one. My husband said he couldn't tell the difference. I used double the amount of blueberries because I had them frozen in one cup baggies.

Jay's Signature Pizza Crust

Really good and really easy. This was my first time making pizza crust and turned out perfect. I made two pizzas out of the crust. I also took the suggestions of others added garlic salt, italian seasoning to the crust. Can't wait to make again.

We really didn't like this dish. It didn't taste anything like the lettuce wraps I've had at restaurants. Will definitely not make again.

Easy Enchilada Casserole

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2006
This was good but not great. My bottom tortillas stuck to the pan. I think it needs a thin layer of sauce along the bottom of the pan. I'm also not sure why it ends with tortillas and cheese. I think the top should be sauce and cheese. Not sure if I will make it again.

Chicken With Mushrooms

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2006
This was pretty good. It was a nice concept that I need to work with a little. I think I'll try to thicken the sauce a little next time. I, like other reviewers, did not add the cheese until the end. My husband liked it a lot.

Colleen's Slow Cooker Jambalaya

Really good...want to figure out how to add the rice to the slow cooker. The flavor was great and the spice not too hot. Might add okra next time.
