So this is my first blog post. A little bit about me. I'm 39 years old with a 13 yr old daughter and 4 crazy dachsy mutts. I was born and raised in Austin, Texas but have transplanted to Lubbock, Texsa for the dullest of reasons. Anyway, the majority of my time M-F is work, work and more work. Did I say work? I hear Maynard G. Krebs in the background! "WORK!" I really do love my job, but love the weekends even better when I have the time to cook my favorite dishes.  Now that my parents have moved to this flat, dry and dusty part of the world, I have someone to cook for! YAY!

I have cooked since I was probably about 6. My mom is fond of telling me about the time I made nachos out of Velveeta and Doritos and microwaved them. She still has the first recipe that my teacher typed out in Kindergarten for Ranch Green Beans. I think it says "You cook the green beans and pour ranch on them. Serve". I think that was the only way I would eat them back in the day. Now its butter, bacon, salt and pepper. Bad for you, but TASTY!

Well, 33 yrs later, Im still just as creative as I ever was. I make my own BBQ sauce and salsa, and I have a recipe published here Green Onion Ranch Dip (if you want to look it up).

Ree Drummond is by far my most absolute FAVORITE Food Network Star! Used to be Guy Fieri, but Ree is more my style of cooking and living. If I could be her, I would. But alas, no awesome husband, no ranch and only one kiddo! However, Im good without the husband but would love to have the ranch and the lodge! LOL I have made mozzarella as inspired by Ree from her blog, and it was as easy as can be! If you havent seen her show yet, you need to! The Pioneer Woman is possibly the best show I have seen yet.

I have been trying to teach my 13 yr old daughter Shelby how to cook. She makes some awesome grilled cheese sandwiches. I know not much goes into it, but love sure seems to flavor it up.

Well, I gotta run, just noticed the time! I have to go get Shelby from school! Love to all, follow me!!! :) This could be lots of fun!

I like Guy Fieri, when i think if him I always think about his "Bling" and the "Hunch" Stance.

I find Guy Fieri to be a big bag of loud wind. Love Ree Drummond the Pioneer Woman though. My fav. is Ann Burrell.

About Me
Im 39 yrs old. Loving mother of 14 yr old daughter who also loves to help me cook. I've lived in Lubbock, Texas since May 2007 and love to create dishes, dips and other appetizers.
My favorite things to cook
Just about any casserole, soups, cakes and lots of stuff
My favorite family cooking traditions
We just have the normal holiday cooking traditions. Sausage balls, peanut butter cup cookies, potato casserole, yellow squash casserole.
My cooking triumphs
Always have successful parties! Im THE Party Girl! I have such a blast cooking, that thats all I really enjoy doing.
My cooking tragedies
Tragedy turned triumphant! Made my first angel food fell, but to my advantage. I just cubed it up and layered it for a strawberry shortcake trifle. OH and Coconut Shrimp! I have no idea what happened with this, but yick!
