Breakfast Sausage

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2014
I've been buying bulk sausage links from a wholesaler thinking I would try to get my family to eat better. Well, as my bacon loving daughter and husband would rather have bacon over sausage, my efforts to eat a tad bit healthier have avoided me. I thought I would give this a try in hopes that they might jump on the band wagon. I think it worked! I wasn't sure how straight turkey would work, so after reading other reviews and seeing other people use straight turkey, I decided to give this a whirl. I took 20 sausage links and removed them from the casings, (a little labor intensive, but I had some time to kill, I need to look into buying ground turkey in bulk without the casings) added all the seasonings to the turkey and mixed well. I didn't have marjoram and saw that another viewer used Italian seasoning, so that is what I used. I didn't add quite 1TBSP of brown sugar, but I think I will next time. I did add the 1/8 tsp red pepper flakes and I think I might just throw in a pinch next time. It was a little spicy, but it was still good (dipped in a little syrup from the French toast, and it was heaven on my fork). I didn't let it sit overnight, but I will next time. Very good recipe, I will be making this from now on for my breakfast sausage.

World's Best Pasta Sauce!

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2013
This was the best sauce I've ever made! I pretty much followed the directions except only added about 1/2 pnd hamburger and I didn't have any fennel seed. Other than that, followed it to the letter. Made traditional spaghetti with it the first night and froze the leftovers in a gallon baggy. That was about 3 weeks ago and tonight I made Lasagna and it was the best. This will be my go to sauce from now on. Thank you so much for a great recipe.

English Muffin Breakfast Strata

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2013
This was great! I don't care for mushy egg casseroles, but this wasn't mushy at all. The only thing I changed, was that I added 2 cans of green chilies. It's even good cold. Thank you for a great recipe.

Asian Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2013
After 15 years of marriage I have made a meat salad for dinner. My hubby is a meat and potatoes kinda guy and likes his salad on the side. Me on the other hand, truely love things like this. Light and easy. I followed the recipe to the T, right down to frying my own noodles. Not sure if I would do the noodles again. My hubby liked them alot, but I don't like deep frying in my house. It was cool to see them puff up and they add a good little crunch, but I think next time I would break up some ramen noodles and sprinkle them on. The dressing was the best thing EVER!! Hubby didn't feel quite full, so he grabbed the extra chicken thigh that was left and pulled it off the bone and added the leftover dressing on top of the chicken. He told me I could make this dish anytime I feel like it, it's the best salad he's had in a long time. Thank you so much for a great recipe!!

Granny Kat's Pumpkin Roll

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2012
This is awesome!! I have made this 3 times now and I learned the hard way that you really need to put down parchment paper on the pan before pouring the batter. No sticking to the pan and makes it much easier to flip. I made this twice last year, one because I wanted t see if I could do it correctly and one for Thanksgiving. Just made it the third time and my family said "no pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving, just make another pumpkin roll" Thank you for a great recipe. No changes to the batter for me. Perfect as is.

Ground Beef with Homemade Taco Seasoning Mix

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2012
This was awesome!! I've been using the store bought seasoning for as long I've been cooking and I won't be buying that anymore. I didn't change a thing except using garlic powder as I didn't have dried "minced" on hand. It was the perfect mix of flavors. Not too spicy, even with the cayenne. Thank you!!

Corned Beef and Cabbage I

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2012
This was the best Corned Beef I've ever had!! For years my husband wants me to cook this for St. Patrick's Day and every year I cringe. I've been doing it in the crock-pot all these years, but never again. Boiling is the way to go. It was so tender and flavorful. I did add some garlic to the water and then after 2 1/2 hours I took the meat out and drained 3/4 of the water from the carrots and potatoes and layed wedges of cabbage on top, I don't like boiled cabbage, steamed is best in my book:) Hubby is loving me tonight!! Thank you.

Sugar Coated Pecans

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2011
I just finished making these for a fruit salad that we are having for Easter dinner...they might not make it to the fruit salad. My daughter and I keep grabbing a few everytime we walk by them. This recipe is a keeper. I only had 1/2 cup of pecans, so I cut the sugar mixture in half and it was perfect. Thanks,

Sweet and Sour Chicken I

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2010
This was VERY good!! The sweet and sour was a little too sour for me, so I added just a little more sugar. My DH said we should bottle the sauce and always keep some on hand. I followed the recipe as it was written, except that I didn't have self rising flour, so I followed the suggestions from others and added 1/2 tsp salt and 1 1/2 tsp of baking powder. Worked great, will definetely be making again.

Strawberry Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2009
This was the best bread I've made in a long time. I took other reveiws in mind and used 4 cups of strawberries, 1 1/2 cups of sugar and little less cinnamon. It was perfect!! My husband loved it. He had it warm with some honey and he thought it was the best. I will definetly be making this again. Thanks for the recipe, it's a keeper.

Ed Zieba's Famous Family Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2009
After trying this recipe, I am still eating dry pork chops!!!!I am with another viewer on Pork Chops. I have always had trouble making a moist pork chop for as long as I've been cooking and I think I'll give up. These were just as dry as any other pork chop I've ever had. Good flavor, but still dry. I followed the recipe to the tee, but shut the oven off about 10 minutes early. I don't know what I'd do different, but I won't be making pork chops anytime soon. Thanks

Savory Garlic Marinated Steaks

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2008
We loved this recipe. My DH always uses the same home made marinade for our steaks, but he let me try this one and he loved it. We will be using this from now on.

Blue Cheese Stuffed Mushrooms with Grilled Onions

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2008
If you like Blue Cheese, these were great. My husband and I loved them, but my brother in-law thought eating 1 whole mushroom at once made it seem too rich. We made them with grilled steak and I would cut my mushroom in half with a bit of steak, onion and it was perfect. Will definetly be making again.

Asparagus Lasagna

Reviewed: May 11, 2008
This was awesome!! I was determined to make this for my mother's day dinner. DH was not too keen on the idea, but I made it anyway (hey, it's my day, I thought I had the right). I used fresh asparagus and doubled the sauce mixture. 4TBPS butter and flour, 3 cups of milk. It was great. My husband was very impressed, he didn't think he liked asparagus. I will definetly be making this again.

Classic Hollandaise Sauce

Reviewed: May 11, 2008
This was not good. I read all the reviews and followed everything. I did not add salt or pepper, warmed the butter very slowly and added the eggs very slowly using a whisk. Immediatly is started to seperate, so I removed from heat and added a splash of water and whisked vigorously. In the end I dumped it out and sent DH to the store for a packet of mix. Waste of 3 eggs and 1 stick of butter.

This was very good. Lots of flavor. I did not make the extra sauce like another viewer suggested, but I wish I would have, it would have been very good.

Shrimp Marinara

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2008
I made this tonight and was very good. I added salt to my portion and seemed to make it a little tastier. I like a thicker sauce and this was a little watery. I added 1/2 cup of water. Maybe next time I would add more canned tomatoes, or maybe tomatoe soup. Great recipe though, thank you.

Peanut Butter Noodles

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2008
I had never tried Udon noodles and I wasn't crazy about them. If you don't like mushy noodles, then these aren't for you. The sauce tasted good and it was easy, just the texture of the noodles turned me off. Maybe I'll try this with Top Ramen noodles, that would be good.

Egg Drop Soup I

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2008
This soup was great. Another viewer commented on the saltiness, so I used 3 cubes, threw in some frozen peas and it was awesome. My husband thought it was better than the soup at the chinese restaurants. Will definetely make this again.

Warm Blue Cheese Dip with Garlic and Bacon

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2008
I took this to a party last night and it was a hit. The only dish that was empty at the end of the night. Next time I will double the recipe as it did not make a whole lot.
