Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: May 16, 2001
I have another "Cinnabon" recipe that is awesome, but it takes hours to prepare. This recipe is equally delicious, but takes only a fraction of the time because it uses the bread machine. If your family loves cinnamon rolls, you've got to try this one. BRAVO!! Thank you, Marsha, for sharing such a great recipe with us!

Banana Sour Cream Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2004
This is one of the best banana bread recipes I have ever tried. I always receive compliments and requests for the recipe. It freezes well, and I often make it for gift-giving. I sprinkle the top with cinnamon sugar, as well as the pans.

Mom's Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2004
I make this recipe every Thanksgiving and Christmas, with RAVE reviews. One year I made six different recipes for pumpkin pie, and this one was the unanimous winner (we had 17 people over, that year). Thank you, Jim, for sharing Mom's recipe with all of us!

Grandma's Egg Custard Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2004
This is a delicious pie! I added 1/4 tsp of salt the last time I made it, and it was even better! Without the salt it was a little flat tasting.

Margaritas

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2004
These are by far, the easiest and best tasting margaritas I've ever made at home. My limeade never goes bad, like my limes used to. I'm always ready to serve these whenever I have guests over.

Norwegian Potato Klub

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2006
My grandmother put a small piece of salt pork in the center of each dumpling before boiling. She didnt use bacon at all. They are done, when they float to the top of the pot of water. Maybe mine are smaller, but mine are done in about 30 minutes. I cut them into chunks, discard the salt pork, brown them in butter, and serve with additional butter for dipping. We called this Pault when I grew up, and it is our favorite breakfast treat!

I made this for a co-worker for his birthday. Many people in the office said that it was the best pumpkin cheesecake they had ever had. I agree.I also used a homemade graham cracker crust and added a pinch of cinnamon-amazing!

My husband loves cheesecake and white chocolate so for his birthday he requested a white chocolate cheesecake. After searching, I found this recipe. This is an amazing cheesecake. My husband LOVED it and said it was the best cheesecake he had ever had. Definitely a keeper, but extremely rich.

German Sweet Chocolate Cake I

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2011
I made two of these for a large birthday party. I incorporated some changes with each in order to experiment and have some words of advice, as a result. I compared the two cakes with the changes and here are my best recommendations: 1. I made my frosting first in order to give it time to cool to spreading consistency. 2. I also added 2 oz of melted chocolate to the frosting for a deeper flavor-this made an amazing difference. 3. I toasted my pecans and coconut at 350 for 15 min 4. I increased the amount of chocolate in the cake to 6 oz 5. It is extremely important not to over-mix the batter from the point of adding the flour mixture. I did this with only one of my cakes, and it was dry and crumbly-the other one was moist and delicious. 6. I do not think the chocolate on the top was necessary, and did not add to the the overall taste of the cake. I also came across an interesting fact while researching: German Chocolate Cake has nothing to do with Germany. It is an American creation. Sam German was a 19th century chocolate maker. In 1952, General Foods, the makers of Baker's chocolate, used his name when creating the recipe, which was originally called German's Chocolate Cake. Overall, this recipe is delicious, and with the changes that I incorporated, it was incredible.

Best Tuna Casserole

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2011
This was a very good dish, although, like many have said, it was rather dry. If I were rating this dish the first time that I made it-following the recipe exactly, I would have given it two stars, but I wanted to give it a chance since so many people liked it. The second time I made some changes so the 5-star rating is based on making it with my changes. I sauteed my onions in butter and fresh garlic and I added a cup of milk to the sauce before adding it to the noodles. I also really loved the potato chips on the top.

D's Famous Salsa

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2011
This is an excellent salsa recipe. I have made it several different ways, and it is honestly hard to mess up. Our favorite version uses A. fresh, summer tomatoes from the garden, but if those are not available, I use Mexican seasoned canned tomatoes-name brand only. B. I also add about 1/2 cup of green onions for a fresher taste, and C. 1/4-1/2 cup of canned jalapenos, or two fresh ones-for a little kick. D. Then I add about 1 tsp of cumin and E. 1 tsp of sugar. We like ours a little chunky so I only pulse in the food processor for about 5 seconds. Absolutely perfect Texas salsa. Thank you, Denise, for sharing with all of us!!
