Meatball Nirvana

WOWZERS!!! SOOO yummy! I had to make a few alterations because I didn't have some of this on hand--like sub minced garlic for the garlic salt, no red pepper flakes, and another blend of spices instead of the Italian seasoning. And since I had mild Italian sausage, I used that instead also of the beef. So, maybe I changed too much to effectively rate this recipe, but it was delicious regardless!! :)

Beef Barley Vegetable Soup

SOO YUMMY! I adjusted the amount of meat though--we are borderline vegetarians and rarely eat beef. Halfed the amount of beef, and doubled everything else. Did it on the stovetop with the directions listed under the recipe in the editor's note. I through in a little garlic as well. The barley that I purchased was 10 min cooking time (quick cooking barley) so I added that at the end for the last 12 min. Had to use Stew Meat because that is what I found at Trader Joe's. SO GOOD!!!!!!

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

I just made these up, and I can't believe some of the negative reviews I read!! I really liked these. They rolled out beautifully. One of my first times ever making these (since I was a kid!) I did heed the advise of additional vanilla (one more teaspoon) and another cup of sugar. Rolled them out on powdered sugar on a silicon mat. I also kept rolling up the left overs to make more and more cookies, and even those turned out well. I don't know if this made all the difference--but I am looking forward to making them again! The kiddos also got to help and everything turned out great!

Minestrone Soup I

This is such a great recipe!! Like others have said, I added more tomato paste & garlic, carrots & celery. I added in frozen green beans, fresh zucchini & green peppers. amazing without the noodles, but I would cook them separately so that if you double the recipe (which I always do)they don't get overly soggy, and decrease the liquid content of the soup. like more liquid, so adding in more chicken broth, or just water is a good idea! Parmesan cheese is delicious on top! ENJOY!!!

Zimbabwean Chicken and Vegetable Soup

this was not pleasant! yikes! I could barely eat this, and just forced myself to do so. I don't know what everyone is talking about--the peanut butter flavor was completely obvious. My husband who had no idea of what was in it, was able to call it out immediately. Don't try the peanut butter soup unless you LOVE peanut butter!! (liking peanut butter is not enough to enjoy this!)

Vintage Lemonade

Awesome lemonade! I juice the lemons first too. I also do six lemons with 1 extra cup of water - keeping the sugar the same or a little less. Making more than one batch at a time is smart or you will have to repeat the whole process again as soon as you finish off that one pitcher! SO GOOD!
