Homemade Vanilla Pudding

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2008
I loved this! I put all of the ingredients except the butter in a lidded jar, shook to blend & then proceeded with the recipe as written. I had a vanilla bean which added tons of flavor. I had no problem with it setting up too thick, it turned out perfectly. I even used 1% milk! I can't wait to try it using other flavors & I might see how it freezes. Thanks so much for such a quick, easy, & delish recipe!:o)

Banana Muffins II

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2007
I made these for my MIL & she absolutely loved them. I added a little vanilla extract & a touch of cinnamon, otherwise I followed the recipe. I only have one mini muffin pan so I made 2 doz.,& a small loaf as well. Very moist, with great banana flavor. Thanks Abi, for a recipe I will definitely use many times:o)

Quick and Easy Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2007
I was so tickled to come across this recipe! It's such a timesaver, turned out great, & I have it memorized! Oh, I did add herbs to the dough just because I do these things:o)Thanks very much!

Zucchini Cakes

Reviewed: May 20, 2008
Thanks to all of the previous reviewers that noted the amount of Old Bay was too much. Because of the advice, I reduced it to suit the quantity of cakes I made. I used unseasoned Panko bread crumbs also. I most certainly didn't bake these, it's enough that I'm eating zucchini in the first place! I pan fried 'em in olive oil & served with a homemade remoulade. Smaller, these would be terrific appetizers so that's what I'll do when I make them again. Keeper:o)

Rusty Chicken Thighs

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2013
Other half said he liked that it was juicy and I did too, BUT.....the flavor was so boring and the marinade smelled weird. The maple with the soy and mayo was pointless since it really added nothing of interest, taste-wise, and again, the smell of it totally put me off. I used steak sauce on mine and I NEVER use that stuff. Not happenin in my house again.

Anne's Potato Pancakes

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2008
My red potatoes gave off a lot of liquid after shredding & I can't imagine adding 3 eggs to this. I only used one egg & still had to add at least twice the amount of flour called for. I should've used my common sense & squeezed the moisture out of the potatoes instead of trying to compensate by adding extra flour to a terribly soupy mixture. They didn't turn out bad but I could've saved myself some time & energy if I would've just trusted my own cooking skills.

Deep Fried Spinach

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2007
I use this technique with fresh sage leaves, basil,or flat leaf parsley. Now that I've made this recipe, I bet it would be great using swiss chard or radicchio too. It's gonna spit when it hits the hot oil, so BE CAREFUL! I like to use fried herbs or greens as a garnish when I'm trying to impress the family or friends. Yes, I'm shallow that way:o):o):o)

Japanese Restaurant Cucumber Salad

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2013
I reduced the servings to 2 and found it a little dry so I doubled up on the rice vinegar, sugar, and chile. Using the called for amount of sesame oil was too much, the flavor overpowering everything. Next time I'll just add a tsp. of that. Otherwise, this is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you! :o)

Grilled Pork Chops with Balsamic Caramelized Pears

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2006
This recipe is all about the sauce. It's that good. I made a double batch. I used half for the pork-beautiful! The other half I cooked down into a chutney & used it as a topping for brushetta with melted gorgonzola on top-Oh Mommie!

Slow Cooker Bolognese

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2011
This is a very good, authentic recipe that's hard to mess up. I think next time though, I'll use Italian sausage instead of the ground beef just because we prefer the seasoning used in sausage. Thanks! :o)

Grilled Halibut Steaks

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2008
This was wonderful! Rather than wasting the butter by using it to baste the fish while grilling, I made a simple butter sauce with the herbs & some reduced white wine & poured it over the halibut after it was plated. This is my first time cooking halibut & I'm thrilled this is the recipe I chose. Thanks so much:o)

Orange and Rosemary Baked Olives

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2008
These are delicious! I used kalamata olives, which aren't called for here but that's what I had. Surprisingly, the olives didn't overpower the seasonings & after sitting at room temp for about an hour, the flavors just melded together. Wonderful recipe & next time I'll use the olives that are specified. Nice job:o)

Gingerbread Pear Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2007
This is a quick & delicious cake that can be personalized endlessly to suit anyone's taste. I made it as written except for replacing the water with pear juice. It made the whole house smell like Christmas & I was even inspired to take a pic which I'll post when I'm not having such a lazy day:o) Thanks Mallinda!

Smoky Grilled Pork Chops

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2011
My better half and I have been trying grilled pork chop recipes lately and those that we've tried have all been absolutely delicious but this is our current fave. Juicy, smoky, and tender. We seared them before continuing with the recipe and I certainly recommend that step. Adds another layer of flavor to an already flavorful recipe. :o)

Artichoke, Cheese and Olive Antipasto

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2007
This is a versatile salad. I didn't use marinated artichokes, I used canned, drained artichokes & so didn't have a problem with excess liquid. I also didn't measure the oil & vinegar, just used my own judgement on the amount needed. I added some cherry tomatoes & upped the oregano a bit but otherwise followed the recipe as written. It makes a great topping for bruschetta & I think it would be really nice served over grilled chicken or fish. Thanks, Chellebelle:o)

Penne and Vodka Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2006
I just made this tonight. I didn't feel like having penne so I made blackened chicken with mushrooms covered in this sauce. Heaven on a plate.

Indian Relish

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2008
Sweet, spicy, fast, cheap, & easy. Sort of like me:o):o):o) I cut the pepper flakes back to around 1 tsp. & added cornstarch as others did. It isn't even cool yet & half of it's gone. Awesome with cheese or just plain crackers. I will always have this in the fridge. Thank you so much for sharing! Love it!:o)

Garlicky Mushroom Toast Cups

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2008
I thought these were lovely. I made a miniature version & added fresh thyme & garlic chives, topped with some flash-fried Black Forest ham strips & drizzled with truffle oil. You can make these as fancy or as home-style as you like, whatever fits the occasion. Thanks for sharing your recipe:o)

Manhattan Meatballs

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2010
Fabulous! I think this would work better in a slow cooker but otherwise, the glaze itself is addictive. I used pineapple preserves and Baby Ray's. It's my nature to tweak recipes but I left this one alone except for the cooking method and we loved it. Thanks! :o)

Crepes with Spinach, Bacon and Mushroom Filling

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2008
I didn't think this was amazing enough for the amount of dishes I had to dirty up in order to make it! It certainly looks pretty but the flavor isn't there for me. Thanks anyway:o)
