Savory Onion Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2007
This was a nice quick bread. I added a little garlic powder as others did & I needed a couple extra tablespoons of milk as it seemed a little dry. I baked it in a loaf pan & it sliced really well. I think this recipe would also make good drop biscuits. Thanks for sharing:o)

Artichoke, Cheese and Olive Antipasto

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2007
This is a versatile salad. I didn't use marinated artichokes, I used canned, drained artichokes & so didn't have a problem with excess liquid. I also didn't measure the oil & vinegar, just used my own judgement on the amount needed. I added some cherry tomatoes & upped the oregano a bit but otherwise followed the recipe as written. It makes a great topping for bruschetta & I think it would be really nice served over grilled chicken or fish. Thanks, Chellebelle:o)

Brazilian White Rice

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2007
I could've sworn I already reviewed this recipe! Hate when that happens. Anyway, this is a wonderful way to add subtle flavor to plain rice. I used more onion & garlic than called for & I topped it with thinly sliced, fried garlic chips. Browning the rice in oil adds a nutty flavor that really makes all the difference. Thanks Nanda:o)

Gingerbread Pear Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2007
This is a quick & delicious cake that can be personalized endlessly to suit anyone's taste. I made it as written except for replacing the water with pear juice. It made the whole house smell like Christmas & I was even inspired to take a pic which I'll post when I'm not having such a lazy day:o) Thanks Mallinda!

Banana Muffins II

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2007
I made these for my MIL & she absolutely loved them. I added a little vanilla extract & a touch of cinnamon, otherwise I followed the recipe. I only have one mini muffin pan so I made 2 doz.,& a small loaf as well. Very moist, with great banana flavor. Thanks Abi, for a recipe I will definitely use many times:o)

Kalua Pig in a Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2007
This is awesome! Unfortunately I didn't have Hawaiian sea salt & had to substitute fleur de sel, a French sea salt. I've since ordered the Hawaiian salt & will be making massive quantities of this for our family reunion next year. This recipe is going to make me look like a star & I thank you for posting it:o)

Lemon-Sesame Asparagus

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2007
Lemon, butter, & asparagus are a match made in heaven but add sesame seeds and you have a stellar dish. I used butter as opposed to margarine but I used a little less than called for. Personal preference. This plates up beautifully, tastes very bright and fresh, and I will definitely be making it again. Thanks so much for sharing:o)

Inside-Out Pizza

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2007
I enjoyed this:o) You can certainly alter the ingredients to your taste but I like it as written. My DH wanted me to use pepperoni instead of turkey. I told him if you want a pizza, order one. Tasty, quick, & most importantly, I didn't have to heat up my kitchen. In August. THANK YOU:o)

Deep Fried Spinach

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2007
I use this technique with fresh sage leaves, basil,or flat leaf parsley. Now that I've made this recipe, I bet it would be great using swiss chard or radicchio too. It's gonna spit when it hits the hot oil, so BE CAREFUL! I like to use fried herbs or greens as a garnish when I'm trying to impress the family or friends. Yes, I'm shallow that way:o):o):o)

Pan-Seared Chicken Breasts with Shallots

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2007
This worked really well for me. I didn't pound out the chicken. I just sauteed it, removed it, & let it rest while I finished the sauce. After the shallots were cooked, I added the wine being sure to incorporate the carmelized juices from the bottom of the pan. With the heat up, I reduced the wine by about a quarter before adding the stock which I also reduced slightly. I added only as much butter as was needed to produce a medium thin sauce. I sliced the chicken before saucing & served with grilled radicchio. Oh, almost forgot:o) Doubled the sauce! Really impressive. Thanks for posting:o)

Quick and Easy Cheese Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2007
This is a great recipe!! Unfortunately I used a loaf pan that should've been donated to the Smithsonian Institute's Antiquities Department a long time ago. And I shouldn't be allowed to bake. The middle came out of the pan separately from the crust so I didn't have any slicing problems:o) Nevertheless, we ate the entire thing straight out of the oven & I'll be getting new bakeware tomorrow! I just love these win-win situations. Thanks:o)

Slow Cooker Ham

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2007
I made this for Christmas Eve. I just didn't think there would be any liquid using the recipe as written so I added a can of pineapple chunks with the juice. I was...oh this hurts...WRONG! The good news is- after de-greasing, & reducing, I had a nice sauce...but there were some scary OMG moments when I thought it was gonna overflow.

Bacon Wrapped Smokies

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2007
I made these for New Year's Eve. Everybody loved them. Personally, I thought they were a bit too sweet, but that's just my taste. One word on the prep; I just put a piece of bacon on the cutting board, wrapped the smokie in it until there was a slight overlap, cut the bacon with scissors, & stabbed it with a toothpick. Much easier than cutting the bacon into thirds since the smokies are not always the same size.

Banana Bread I

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2006
Normally, I make my Grandma's banana bread but we really like this one. We've had it fresh out of the oven, cold, toasted, and tomorrow I'm going to see how it comes out as french toast. It slices well and has a good banana flavor. Great recipe!

I just made this tonight. I didn't feel like having penne so I made blackened chicken with mushrooms covered in this sauce. Heaven on a plate.

Grilled Pork Chops with Balsamic Caramelized Pears

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2006
This recipe is all about the sauce. It's that good. I made a double batch. I used half for the pork-beautiful! The other half I cooked down into a chutney & used it as a topping for brushetta with melted gorgonzola on top-Oh Mommie!
