Chocolate Glaze II

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2012
This worked wonderfully for me! I needed a glaze for Banana Bread Cookies, (also on this site), and I didn't want to mess with melting chocolate so this was perfect. I love the flavor but wanted it a bit more intense so I added 1 more tablespoon of cocoa powder. That did the trick! Thanks so much! :o)

Golden Sweet Cornbread

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2012
We LOVED this! I had to leave it in the oven with the heat turned off for about 20 mins. and that actually turned out to be a good thing. The top turned golden and the sides pulled away from the pan which gave it a nice, close texture. Not too dense either. Hubby wants to toast it for breakfast. I'm gonna have to cut the sugar slightly next time, (just a smidge too sweet for me), but otherwise, awesome recipe. :o)

Cheese and Bacon Potato Rounds

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2012
I love these! So much easier than fried potato skins and somewhat healthier as well. These often take the place of baked potatoes as a side dish for us too. If you're trying to eat less carbs but can't give up the beloved tater completely, this is a nice start. Thanks! :o)

Fried Broccoli

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2012
This is a tasty way to cook broccoli although I had to put the lid on my pan to steam it after it was browned. I don't think it would have cooked through otherwise. :o)

Potato Rounds

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2012
I love the idea! I can have a "baked potato" without actually eating one! I'm not kiddin, if you can exercise some self control, two or three slices of these, savored, can take the place of the real thing. :o)

Awesome Red Wine Pot Roast

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2012
If you skip the veggies, sub all wine for water, cook til most of the liquids have soaked into the meat, scoop it onto a nice bun, you've just recreated the Aaron Sanchez sliders that they serve at the Crossroads bar @ Downtown Disney. Applause, applause to infinity and beyond! :o)

Pork Fried Quinoa

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2012
This is a healthier version of fried rice and as such, that's exactly what it tastes like. I found it to be rather bland and lacking in vegetables for my taste. Thanks for sharing. :o)

MMMMM... Brownies

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2012
I came across this recipe in yesterday's reviews and it caught my attention. At 10 pm! How could I resist and why should I? They turned out wonderful and I used dark choco chips. I think there's a third of a pan left. I should be able to plow through that before midnight. Thanks for sharing! :o)

Homemade Sweet Italian Sausage (Mild or Hot)

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2012
The seasoning is perfect but for us, the texture of the meat wasn't working for husband. He mentioned meatloaf. I thought it tasted wonderful! :o)

Beer Batter

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2012
This worked perfectly for my onion rings last night. It made me sad to give up my beer for this but it was worth it. Besides, I have more beer. ;o)

Ken's Perfect Hard Boiled Egg (And I Mean Perfect)

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2012
First time in history that I've peeled eggs without swearing a blue streak! Thanks Ken. :o)

Mock Champagne

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2012
I love this! The combination works well as written and the recipe is a great jumping off point for other flavors as well. I absolutely agree that you should use your champagne glasses and a touch of fruit in each one. Makes it seem special. Mine went a bit flat after awhile so I'll be making by the glass next time. Thanks for a new idea! :o)

Grilled Fish Tacos with Chipotle-Lime Dressing

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2012
The marinade was excellent and so was my grilled halibut. However, the sauce is another story. The flavor reminded me a bit of key lime pie filling gone horribly wrong. The lime zest is too much. Having said that, it did spark some ideas of my own and for that, I thank you. :o)

Simple Roasted Chickpea Snack

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2012
The flavors were good and the crispy outside was good but the middle of them turned me off. I don't know what I was expecting but they were mealy and bone dry inside. That's a personal taste issue and has nothing to do with the recipe. It was interesting to try so thanks for the new experience. :o)

Moo Goo Gai Pan

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2012
This is exactly what Moo Goo Gai Pan is supposed to taste like. It's not meant to be spicy but that's probably what's "lacking" for some of us. I didn't have water chestnuts so I peeled and sliced broccoli stems instead. That added the crunch and I did add some heat but only AFTER tasting the original recipe. I liked both so I'm happy. Thanks Deven. :o)

Caramelized Beef Skewers

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2012
Let me start by saying that I hate steak sauce! My apologies to all of you steak sauces. However, A1 makes a fabulous grilling sauce when mixed with your favorite BBQ sauce. Which isn't Kraft for us (sorry Kraft). I used Cattleman's with a touch of Sweet Baby Ray's sauce. Between the steak sauce and the mix of BBQ sauces, this had the perfect balance of sweet, smoky, and tangy. Grilling made the ingredients play nicely together and I was pleasantly surprised by the results. I believe I'll slice my meat a tad thicker since it cooked through and we like some pink left. Not bad A1, not bad at all. :o)

Seasoned Fan Potatoes

Reviewed: May 26, 2012
These were very good! They're a slightly different take on Hasselback Potatoes which I love. I wasn't in the mood for cheddar so I left that out but otherwise followed the recipe as written. Quicker than a loaded baked potato but certainly as tasty. :o)

Fabulous Fargozas

Reviewed: May 26, 2012
Fabulous! I made these to go with Ybor City Salad from this site and because of that, I didn't add the cheese since the salad has plenty. Due to pure laziness on my part, I used granulated onion and garlic which still worked out well and since I always have fresh rosemary, I replaced the dried with fresh. No doubt the recipe works as written but it can also take some changes and still be delicious. Gonna make these a LOT! Thanks bunches! :o)

Rempel Family Meatloaf

Reviewed: May 22, 2012
I tried this recipe in my never ending search for meatloaf that will slice neatly the next day. This did. I'll be honest now and say that after following the beef/crackers/egg ratio, I went off on my own, adding extra seasonings and leaving out the cheese. It made really yummy sandwiches today so thanks for that! :o)

Blackened Chicken

Reviewed: May 22, 2012
I thought the spice rub was excellent! The chicken was moist and tender, due to basting with the mayo sauce. I think the sauce needs to be made a couple hours ahead so the flavor ripens if you're going to use it for dipping. Ours was bland. Thanks for sharing! :o)
