About this Cook
I married my high school sweetie in 1978. We spent the next 20 yrs. as members of the Air Force,(him, not me),traveling the world & learning about different cuisines before retiring in 1998 & coming home to FL. to be with our families. Allrecipes has been so educational for me & I've met some awesome people through this site. In fact, many of us have joined together & built our own forum board. http://www.thequalitycook.com If anyone is interested, please drop by & say hi. We love to meet fellow AR addicts...I mean AR members:o):o):o) I also sell handmade bling on Etsy. Here's the link if you're bored that day. http://www.etsy.com/shop/DMCJewelryCentralFL
My favorite things to cook
I like to cook a lot of different things. I'm not a very good baker, though. I keep trying cuz even if something doesn't turn out, it still smells good:o) I cook almost everything other than baked goods on the stove top. I like to pan saute over relatively high heat for the caramelization, then turn the heat down to finish. Lots of flavor without a lot of fat. Btw, this is good info I'm giving you for free;o)
My favorite family cooking traditions
My Grandma's banana bread, my Mom's potato salad, my Aunt Kay's spaghetti dinner with garlic bread that I used to eat cold on Sun. morning for breakfast. (She lived one street over from me & as a kid I'd cut through the neighbor's backyard to get that leftover bread)!
My cooking triumphs
The first time I cooked a turkey & remembered to take out that lil bag of guts. My first time making my own pasta & bread. Every time I cook something that makes people say~ You should sell this stuff. Have you ever noticed those are the people that never buy the stuff when you do try to sell it? Yeah, you know who you are!:o):o):o)
My cooking tragedies
A tragedy would imply that I killed someone with my cooking. Hasn't happened yet...as far as you know. Please ignore that pile of dirt that looks suspiciously like somebody "planted" something there.

The Best Meatloaf
Denelle, we loved it too. Those that thought it was too bland are missing the beauty of it. Bland means you have a fabulous basic recipe to which you can add your favorite seasonings. As is, it made my guy really happy. Next time, we'll probably kick it up a notch. Thanks! :o)

Pork Rib Rub
This stuff is the shizz! I'll admit to cutting the amount of black pepper in half but left the cayenne as written. I used it on boneless ribs and it permeated the meat really well. Chicken is getting this rub next. Love, love, LOVE! :o)

Greek Island Chicken Shish Kebabs
I'll try to be as tactful as I can. time. This affected the texture of it to the point that we found it inedible. I followed the recipe exactly with the exception of adding fresh rosemary because I like it. It didn't help. The only flavor that came through was the acid. Even after it was grilled. I won't be making this ever again.
