I come from a family of 9 kids and learned to cook and bake from my Granny. Mid-West and Southern recipies in the beginning and now I experiment a lot with Hawaiian recipies and anything having to do with baking and hors d'oeuvres. I cook and bake many times a month for charitable organizations.
My favorite things to cook
Desserts - all kinds, casseroles, Asian, Filipino, using puff pastry, trying out new puu puu (hors d'oeuvre) recipes
My favorite family cooking traditions
Big breakfasts with all of the trimmings. Christmas and Thanksgiving dishes including: oyster stuffing, Russian tea cakes, green bean & cheese casserole, Christmas cookies, ham with honey-mustard glaze, kalua pig, huli-huli chicken, sauces.
My cooking triumphs
I have mastered my pineapple-lilikoi-starfruit cake. We grow many fruits on our property so I am always trying new recipies with these.
My cooking tragedies
Using too much cheese or liquid in a recipe....I do most of my work from scratch.
