About this Cook
I live in Durham NC, I have two great dogs and a younger sister who is also my roomate. We are both very busy and normally don't get a chance to spend that much time together except during the summer time. I have been cooking since I was about 6 or 7 years old. My mother always had me helping her in the kitchen. If I wanted to make something she would just step back and let me do it. She was always there to supervise and lend her expertese but she never stepped in unless it was absolutely necessary. She was great at allowing me to succeed or fail on my own merit.
My favorite things to cook
I like to marinate and grill shrimp during the summer, expermenting with different marinades etc. I like baking my specialty is homemade cinnamon rolls.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Lady fingers, fudge, snickerdoodles, & martha washington candy are a Holiday family tradition.
My cooking triumphs
The very first time I made my mothers Hommade Carrot Cake that turned out wonderful. It was my fathers favorite and she always made it for his birthday.
My cooking tragedies
Once I had a recipe from a friend for some no bake cookies. After reading her recipe it just didn't sound right and I just knew that they needed more oatmeal. But I followed the recipe and bascially came out with peanut butter fudge with a little bit of oatmeal in them. They were good but they weren't really cookies. It tought me a valuable lesson to always trust my instincts especially in the kitchen.

Spinach and Feta Pita Bake
We loved this Dish it was so easy to make and tasted great. We like to change it up by adding different types of cheese and by adding pinapple. Easy Easy!
