Mushroom Blue Cheese Turkey Burgers

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2014
I loved this - even my kids loved it AND my super picky brother!! The flavors were awesome. I mixed the blue cheese into the meat. I precooked the mushrooms and onions but not to completely dehydrated. This is a 5 star as written. But I always need to tweak recipes... I love strong mushrooms and cheese, so I will try this again with stronger blue cheese and stronger flavored mushrooms.

Champagne Shrimp and Pasta

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2014
OMG! What flavor! AND so easy. I was wondering why I have never made anything like this before. I used Prosecco and I like the sweet ones. I used my own frozen tomatoes and added artichoke hearts. I added a pound of baby portabella mushrooms. Awesome! I am so amazed at the results that I now have to rush out and find a fantastic bread to serve with it. Thanks for the recipe! A keeper.

Out of this World Turkey Brine

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2013
If I could give more then 5, I would give 10 stars! I always brine poultry prior to cooking - have done it for years - and take the process seriously. However, I spotted this recipe and figured why not? SO SO SO glad I did! I had 2 turkeys - one to roast in the oven and one to smoke on the grill. It took 3 gallons of water to cover both in a huge kettle. I made the recipe for 2 gallons of water, added to the turkeys in a kettle and then just added 1 more gallon of water. Although diluted, it was still the most amazing brine ever! Who takes poultry from the brine and says - wow this smells amazing?? NO ONE - until this! I had a 10 pound turkey and a 12 pound turkey; both fresh. I don't know if they were injected or not at butcher. I rinsed the brine off and cooked. They both gained pounds after brining! The brine created such a juicy turkey, very forgiving after long cooking times. These had to be the best turkeys I have EVER made. Thanks for sharing!

Apple Enchilada Dessert

Reviewed: May 6, 2013
Awesome! Thanks for sharing this recipe. I read many many reviews and added cream cheese (8oz)/powdered sugar (.25c) whip to the tortillas before adding the apple pie filling. I used the raw tortillas from costco, so I had to toast the tortillas. Once they cooled, I applied the cream cheese. I used the reduced sugar for the syrup. Ala mode is a must. My husband said he preferred this to apple pie.

Chipotle Mayo

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2012
Amazing! Since I always need to tweak recipes, I followed others suggestions and added garlic and cilantro. I think I added too much adobo sauce because it was a bit runny, so I had to skip the suggested lime juice. Next time, I will add the lime juice and then add adobo sauce until it reaches my desired thickness. I can't wait to try this on MANY items!

Hash Brown Casserole II

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2011
I made a few changes after reading other reviews. Omitted the first 1/2c butter. Used 1 (10.75oz) cr of chicken and 1/2 (10.75oz) cr of mushroom soup. Instead of cornflakes, I used french fried onions. I added yellow mustard and fried bacon, crumpled. Awesome!

Beef and Spinach Curry

Reviewed: May 29, 2010
LOVED IT. I probably doubled the spices, because we like spicy Indian food. Sometimes my Indian cooking makes us cry (so hot) but doubling the spices made a nice heat. I bought Rib Eye steaks and simmered them in soy sauce for 1.5hrs. Then I removed the fat. I also pureed all of the ingredients except the tomatoes and beef after cooking. After adding the meat and tomatoes to the pan, I also added a can of chick peas and simmered for about 30 min. The most amazing thing was the next day, this food tasted EXACTLY like restaurant quality. Makes me think the buffet food is not fresh. AWESOME!! Thanks for the recipe.

Caldo de Res (Mexican Beef Soup)

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2009
I had the bone section from a rib roast and decided to try this recipe, based on the positive previous responses. I simmered the bones/residual meat in water for 6 hours. I then pulled the meat from the bones and fat and added just the meat back to the Dutch Oven. I didn't add the oil nor the salt and pepper but followed the recipe for the most part after that. I couldn't find pickled jalapenos so I used a fresh jalapeno and a fresh serrano. I also used frozen corn. AMAZING!! Mine was a bit spicy I found a hot hot serrano) but so wonderful. My hubby also said amazing!! I saved some for my kids before adding the hot chilis and they love it as well. This makes A LOT. I am actually glad there are so many leftovers - THANKS for the delicious recipe.

Pizza On The Grill I

Very good crust. Next time I'll try rolling it out thinner to achieve a thinner cooked crust. Toppings can vary but the garlic and basil in the crust is fabulous - add more of both and be sure to get it all evenly distributed. Will definitely make this again -

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: May 15, 2007
Very good recipe. I combined this recipe with another on this site and came up with: I used red wine instead of water and added a bell pepper, portabello mushrooms, artichoke hearts and frozen spinach. I let the sauce simmer most of the day. With the vegetables, this made a lot of sauce - almost twice what's needed. I used 50/50 cottage cheese and ricotta and also used 50/50 provolone and mozzarella. I added nutmeg to the cheese mix and soaked the noodles for 30 minutes in hot water.

Picante Chicken Rice Burritos

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2007
My new chicken burrito recipe!! I had made yellow sauce and used it instead of the picante. And so I added one fresh, minced serrano but could have added more. I also added extra garlic, pinto beans and bell peppers. For the shredded chicken, I marinaded breasts in 1/4c soy sauce, 3 minced garlic cloves, 4t sugar, 1T sherry, 1t Hoisin. After marinading, tossed the liquid and baked the chicken for 40 minutes at 350. This made fantastic , moist chicken that I then shredded. Amazing and worth the effort. Makes a lot so I froze some.

Allie's Delicious Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2007
I omitted the ham and hot spices and this was very bland. Knowing I would omit the ham, I used very flavorful cheeses but it was still tasteless. I made this for 12 kids and none liked it. Until my son is older and can tolerate the hot spice and eats ham, I won't remake this.
