Spicy Bean with Bacon Soup

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2009
Very good and very flavorful! My 3 year old scarfed it down. The only thing that differed was the beans took forever to become tender, but that always happens to me. Next time I will try it in the slow cooker. Thanks Buffy!

Sarah's Applesauce

Very good! I especially liked the review that recommended the crock pot. I put mine on low and let it cook overnight. Turned out great! Thanks!

Margarita On The Rocks

This was awesome! I like drinking margaritas when I'm out to eat, but they're never as good at home-until now! Will keep this recipe forever. Thank you!!!!!

Cream Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2010
I made this for my grandmother's b-day when she requested a white cake. I followed the recipe and it came out very thin-it did taste good though! I might not have let my eggs set out long enough or something like that. Next time I will add more baking powder and less salt.

High Temperature Eye-of-Round Roast

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2009
This was really good despite the fact that my oven obviously DID NOT hold in the heat. I even did what a couple of the reviewers had said 1) let meat come to room temp 2) heated oven for 20 min. I had a smaller roast (2.12lbs) and it still didn't heat it all the way. It was at the end of the 2hrs and 10 min and it read 108 degrees. I turned the oven back on to 350 and cooked it for about an hour and checked it. It eventually got up to 150 I let it rest for about a half hr sliced it up and it was awesome. It was tender and juicy and full of flavor! When I make it next time I will try switching it to 200 after the initial 500 and check it after an hour or so and go from there!

Copycat Sprinkles Red Velvet Cupcakes

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2011
I really liked this cupcake recipe! Didn't change a thing but I did run short on confectioner's sugar so I used some homemade whipped cream to help stiffen it up a little more and that did the trick. It was moist and fluffy just like you would expect from a cupcake. Thanks for your modifications-I have this recipe saved to use again!

Crispy Lemon Fish Fillets

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2009
Normally we don't care for fish, but this was very tasty! I could see adding cajun seasoning would make it even better (there's a good cajun seasoning recipe on this site)

Slow Cooker Bean Casserole AKA Sweet Chili

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2009
Let me just say, this recipe is great! Very versatile. My husband is not a fan of chili so I tried this and it was well liked! I did add chili beans as well as the baked beans and I don't know why but I added some turkey ham because it just sounded good! Traded out green peppers for onions and topped it off with a little cheddar when serving-yummy! Thanks for a little something different!

How to Make Vanilla Ice Cream

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2013
I think this is probably the BEST ice cream recipe ever! It's so easy to change the amounts of whipping cream and milk (I made it the 1st time as Chef John instructed). I liked more cream then milk and then I decided to add eggs to make it more creamy and rich. It was perfect! This is my new base recipe for making ice cream!

Rich and Simple French Onion Soup

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2010
Very rich and simple, just like its name! I left out the bread since I'm doing low carbs and it was fabulous! Didn't need to broil it either-definitely restaurant quality.

Shrimp Scampi

Good recipe overall. I left out the pasta because I didn't want the extra carbs. I would agree that it could use more garlic-almost anything could always use more garlic! Thanks

Chef John's Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2012
Ooh, my, I love this pie! My hubby thought it was perfect even though I thought maybe the spices were too strong-of course when I tried it, he was right (him 345,999,999/ me 1). It was worth losing this one, so thank you Chef John!

Very Chocolate Ice Cream

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2011
I followed the recipe and instructions and it was super runny still 20 minutes into freezing it in my ice cream maker. I have never had this problem before so now I'm trying to figure out how to fix it so a whole batch of ice cream doesn't get turned into a very expensive chocolate milk.

Honey Garlic Vinaigrette

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2010
Very good dressing! It was super simple and I had all the ingredients on hand. I might try adding some tarragon and dijon mustard to it next time to see if I can get it closer to tasting like OB's mustard vinaigrette. Thanks!

Whipped Cream Cream Cheese Frosting

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2010
Very good-exactly what I was looking for! Quick and easy and set up perfectly! I used splenda instead of sugar and used it to frost Cream Cake from this site. To keep it simple and let my son have some fun, he topped it with sprinkles-will use again, thanks!

Jenn's Out Of This World Spaghetti and Meatballs

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2009
Loved it! Had to change a thing or two based on what I had. I didn't have any tomato paste, so I used puree in place of the sauce and paste. Used dried herbs and a splash of white wine. Also skipped the water, just used 28 oz crushed and pureed toes. I wish I would've followed the advice and only used 2T of sugar-very sweet with only 1/4c!

Smooth Sweet Tea

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2009
I should give this recipe 10 stars. I gave the recipe to my grandma, who was addicted to Mc D's tea, but now she can just make it at home! I too love making this and its definitely way less bitter! Thanks for a great iced tea!

Melt-In-Your-Mouth Meat Loaf

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2009
I thought this was flavorful meatloaf! It reminded me of Bob Evans just slightly. I used Big Al's BBQ Sauce instead of the ketchup/brown sugar topping. Next time I'll try it with a mushroom gravy type sauce instead!

Soft Oatmeal Cookies

Excellent recipe! Very versatile. I added in coconut, chocolate chips and raisins. They seemed a little dry and crumbly, so I added some water and that did the trick! I really liked the flavor with the cinnamon and oats. Will make them again! Thanks
