About this Cook
I am a stay at home mom with my 4 sweet boys. I like to experiment in the kitchen, but the kids come first, so sometimes it's what's quick, easy, and healthy! I really got into cooking and baking when I had my first son over three years ago. I would sit, feed him and watch the food network. I caught all kinds of great tips and tricks. I'd get recipes online and I started to get more confident. I have to say that the best cooks to watch are Alton Brown (every recipe of his I've made has turned out fab) and Paula Deen (she is great for comfort food and desserts...just gotta watch the fat and carb content!!).
My favorite things to cook
I absolutely love making grilled veggies, grilled steak, lasagna, cookies, peanut butter pie, ice cream, cheese cake, tacos, chili, pizza... I also love making salads and coming up with salad dressings (anything with garlic).
My favorite family cooking traditions
My Grandmother makes the ultimate prime rib and is an expert at baking... any recipes I can hit her up for I do!! Other than that, I like turkey on Thanksgiving and prime rib for Christmas (not a huge fan of ham on Easter, but I deal with it)!
My cooking triumphs
Anything low carb that turns out good! My chicken wings and my white clam sauce get rave reviews! Recently started cooking more vegetarian meals to eat healthier and save some money too!
My cooking tragedies
Anything low carb that doesn't turn out good... I have a habit of turning up the stove too high and walking away. I have to really reming myself, I'd rather it be undercooked when coming back into check on it, than overcooked and ruined!

How to Make Vanilla Ice Cream
I think this is probably the BEST ice cream recipe ever! It's so easy to change the amounts of whipping cream and milk (I made it the 1st time as Chef John instructed). I liked more cream then milk and then I decided to add eggs to make it more creamy and rich. It was perfect! This is my new base recipe for making ice cream!

Burger or Hot Dog Buns
Awesome recipe! The video was very helpful also. Tried this in the bread maker and just let it mix, didn't worry about letting it rise...turned out excellent! Will definitely make these again!

Easy Homemade Pie Crust
Every pie crust I've ever made has always turned out only so-so, especially because I won't use shortening. Well, after making this for Chef John's Pumpkin Pie and Old Fashioned Coconut Cream Pie, I now know this is my new pie crust recipe! I followed this recipe exact, the only thing I would like to figure out is what timing and temperature is good for it if I'm pre-baking them? Thank you Chef John for another great recipe!
