Rye Beer Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2006
This recipe is pretty good. However, I don't think it rose well. It took at least twice as long to rise and even then it didn't rise all that much. Maybe it was my fault. ONE NOTE: previous reviews state that you might want to use a dark/strong beer. On this advice, I used a Samuel Adams Boston Lager. TOO BITTER. Next time I will use an ale.

Oatmeal Bread I

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2006
Great bread! Very smooth texture. I was very worried that it would be dense, but despite appearances, it was light and fluffy. Rose very well. It only took 3 hours to rise and then I had to take it out of the fridge because it was getting too big. I would advise letting it rise on a cookie sheet... there is no way it would have been contained in a bowl. Wonderful flavor. Quick oats worked as well as any. NOTE: The author does not recommend cooking time... this was done for me in 35 minutes. VERY HAPPY WITH THIS.

Sourdough Bread I

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2006
Not sure if I should rate this or the starter. I am sorta disappointed in this recipe. It rose just fine, but... It took 5 days to make the started and the bread turned out BLAND, BLAND, BLAND. Like NO flavor. Nothing. Maybe it will get more flavorful as time goes on. I would recommend trying another starter.

Honey Wheat Bread II

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2006
EXCELLENT!!! I doubled the honey, messed around with the wheat to white ratio, kneaded it for another minute after punching it down, let it rise MUCH longer than the recipe says... it was all wonderful. The one in the loaf pan is still in the oven, but I made a couple smaller loaves on my stone and they are great!!! Fantastic texture!

Overnight Cinnamon Rolls I

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2006
I changed this recipe a lot. I added sugar and cinnamon to the dough. Before adding putting the filling on, I smeared the dough with softened butter. I used more filling than recommended. It was fabulous. I realized (after they were all gone) that I had completely forgotten the eggs... oops. Couldn't even tell. Messy, but delicious.

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2006
I followed this recipe exactly and it was a big flop. The cookies were completely stuck to the pan.. I only managed to remove one without breaking it. Not sure how this got 5 stars.
