Flourless Chocolate Cake II

This was the easiest flourless chocolate cake I ever baked, and tasted just about as good as the more complicated recipes. I baked two for a party and, since I had only one springform, I used a regular 8 inch cake pan for the second cake. It was very hard to get the second cake out of the pan, so next time I will use my mother's trick and line the bottom of the greased pan with a circle of wax paper before I pour the batter in.

Apple-Cinnamon Farfel Kugel

This kugel was delicious. But after searching 4 stores for the matzo farfel, I finally found it, only to realize that it's really just crushed matzo that I could have made myself by crushing Matzo I could have purchased at the first store. Very easy to make (with a food processor to shred the apples) and smells declicious when baking.

Beer Batter Fish Fillets

We used Tilapia fish fillets. The kids devoured them. Used dry "dill & lemon" spice versus just dill. Used elctronic skillet with a 1/4 inch of oil versus deep fry.

Cream Cheese Apple Muffins

I agree with the other reviewers who thought the muffins needed some spice. We added lots of cinnamon, some ginger and fresh nutmeg. We also added raisins and the muffins were quite tasty when warm from the oven. I also took the earlier advice and cut back the baking powder to 1 tsp. The yield was about 18 muffins from one batch.

Mom's Favorite Baked Mac and Cheese

I crushed some spicy croutons, sprinkled them on top and drizzled some melted butter on them before baking. It gave the dish a nice zing!

Easter Eggs

Instead of egg shapes, we simply rolled the dough into balls about 3/4" in diameter. The recipe then makes about 150 balls, requiring 50% more of the chocolate/shortening mix for dipping. But we liked the smaller, bite-size shape and gave them to friends for Easter. Wonderful!!!!

Fudgy Chocolate Fondue

Fantastic and easy! The consistency was perfect for dipping bananas, apples and almond macaroons. The cocoa provided a much richer chocolate flavor than candy bars and also produced a much smoother texture than I've gotten in the past when I used chocolate chips or baking squares. Much faster prep time, too. Will definitely make this again. Kids and husband loved it.

This was a lot of work for a very dry, bland dish. There was not enough white sauce or egg mixture to thoroughly cover the noodles. More meat would have helped, too.

Better Help for Hamburger

I seasoned the ground beef with Worcestershire sauce and grill seasoning to add some additional flavor. Then I removed the browned ground beef from the pan and cooked the potatoes, peppers and onion in the drippings until the potatoes were tender (adding a couple cloves of minced garlic to the mix). I used mozarella instead of cheddar (only a half cup or so) and the kids couldn't get enough!

Chicken Tortilla Soup V

Excellent! I substituted Swanson's Roasted Garlic Chicken Broth for the regular chicken broth, skipped the garlic and cumin, and it's the best soup I've ever made. I haven't made it for anyone who hasn't asked for the recipe!

Turkey Tetrazzini

I made quite a few changes, but this was a huge hit with my husband and daughter. After the onions were browned in the butter I added 8 oz minced baby bella mushrooms and skipped the canned mushrooms and pimentos. I used 1 cup chicken broth in place of one of the cups of milk. I subbed smoked Gouda for the cheddar because that's what I had. Replaced the spaghetti with rotini. And instead of layering, I mixed everything together, as you would for mac and cheese. Fantastic!

Ham Slice with Pineapple-Orange Sauce

Instead of orange juice, I used some pomegranate juice that was left over from a New Years Eve party. I used molasses instead of brown sugar. It was a dish very well received. Next time, I might put some white pepper instead of ginger.

Absolute Mexican Cornbread

I was out of chiles the last time I made this, so I substituted Chipotle Peppers in Adobo Sauce. I used 4 of them, diced, but less would work if you don't like that much 'heat'. The combination of sweet, smokey and spicey was fantastic.

Charline's Sweet Potato Casserole

We thought the recipe called for too much sugar so we left out the white sugar. Skipped the corn flakes too. Cooked covered at 350 for 30 minutes then uncovered for 20 minutes until the marshmellow were golden brown. Everyone loved it. The coconut was a great touch.

Kraut Bierocks

These were absolutely delicious! I did need to add quite a bit of flour when making the dough, but they turned out great. My 10-year old (who hates cabbage and sauer kraut) went back for seconds. I don't think I'll share the recipe with him. :)

Awesome Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting

This truly is awesome. As others did, I cut the oil to 3/4 cup, cut the sugar to 1-1/2 cups and added 1/2 cup of raisins. I've never had a better carrot cake!

We used mango lime salsa Hot Mexican-style Chili Powder. Also added a can of green chilis. So easy and so good! I assembled it in less than 15 minutes before I left for work and came home to a wonderful aroma and great meal. Served with Chipotle Copycat Cilantro/Lime rice.

Buttermilk Pancakes II

I used powdered buttermilk because I had some on hand and I whipped the egg whites before mixing the rest of the wet ingredients for added 'fluffiness'. The pancakes were delicious! With warm maple syrup the were perfectly sweet - in other words, not too sweet.

Easy Slow Cooker French Dip
