Dill Pickle Meatloaf

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2010
Followed the recipe exactly. Easy to prepare - not too long to wait. Not the best meat loaf I've ever had, but certainly tasty and quite unique with the Dill Pickle taste thrown in. I like it!!

Bada Bing Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2010
Loved them!!!! Only change was to use less hot sauce as I'm not crazy about 'hot' anything. Flavour, flavour, flavour!!!

Colorful Veggie Bake

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2010
I gave it a 5*; girlfriend said "don't make it again - the taste is wierd". May have been my fault, used shredded mozzarella (as it's all I had). Used Oriental blend as the store didn't have California blend (shouldn't make a diff. - just different veggies). I think it's a GREAT way to liven up frozen veggies - highly recommended, (by me).

Chuck Wagon Stew

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2010
This rates a 5* given the fact it's easy, it's low calorie (relatively), it's fast, & most important - it's quite tasty. Minor changes based on others' input; added basil, oregano, garlic powder to the ground beef. Used lean ground. Used 1 can beef boullion instead of cubes. 2nd time - 1 can green beans, 1 can sliced carrots, 1 can sliced mushrooms, 1 can mixed veggies - a little bit of thickener to thicken up the stew. VERY GOOD!

Scrumptious Salisbury Steak in Mushroom Gravy

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2010
Among the best Salisury Steak dishes I've had. Minor changes based on others' input; Added 1.5 tsp Worstershire to meat mixture before frying. Used fresh sliced shrooms. Used lean gound beef. Reduced milk from 2 C. to 1.5 C and added cream of mushroom soup.

Egg Foo Young

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2010
Loved it! Only minor hassle was in the skillet cooking the omelets. Perhaps 1 more egg added would have allowed the veggies to stick together better, or had I used a small skillet (rather than medium size). Nevertheless, great taste, great calorie count.

Chinese Chicken Fried Rice II

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2010
This recipe would not be appropriate for a week night dinner unless you already had the rice pre-made & cold and the chicken pre-cooked and ready to go. I did not, so it took far longer than 15 min to prep/serve this dish. As well, I couldn't wait for the rice to fully cool (people were hungry), so it was used hot. The rice was sticky/gluey either because it was used hot or because of the type I used. Flavour-wise, it was a very nice dish. Given the above comments, on a week-end (when you have the time) this would probably be a 4*.

Southwestern Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2010
Followed the recipe and found this to be one of the best tasting salads I've had. The combination of black beans, corn, and the ranch/BBQ sauce dressing just screams 'Southwestern United States'.

Beef Stew IV

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2010
Minor changes based on others' feedback. Shook cubes in a bag with flour, onion, garlic powders, pepper. Used baby carrots (cut in two). Doubled the liquid. Overall, it was very good. Am wondering if I'd simmered the meat 1.5 to 2 hrs if it would have been more tender. Healthy and filling meal.

Kay's Spaghetti and Lasagna Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2010
For a 'low calorie' spagetti sauce - this was great! Only change was to use cane sugar instead of white.

Country Green Beans

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2010
Certainly better than steamed. Someone suggested using chicken broth instead of water - will do that from now on. Increased the amount of garlic - probably a mistake because it dominated the other flavors. Overall, a very nice way to prep green beans.

Ed Zieba's Famous Family Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2010
Gave it a 5* simply because it is so easy to make and yet so tasty. As stated, it was super tender and the onion & seasoned salt combination lent a wonderful flavor to the chops. Absolutely, among the best tasting pork chops I've ever had - and so simple!!

Curried Chicken and Brown Rice Casserole

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2010
Pronounced a 5* by all who ate it. Made no substantial changes. Might have cooked it 40 instead of 45 min as the chicken might have been a tiny bit dry at 45 min.

Pork Normandy

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2010
Only changes were to use apple cider, & to not puree the sauce but to serve it up straight from the skillet. As well, used skim milk instead of heavy cream (waist-line!!). Very tasty dish! - the apple cider added a tart element that was a perfect complement to the other ingredients.

Simple Turkey Chili

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2010
Made changes based on earlier reviews; Sauteed onion & garlic a little before adding turkey. Added in some Mtl steak spice. No water added later, just used all contents of crushed tomatoes can. No hot spices except for a little mexican hot sauce. Added 2 tbsp of brown sugar to other spices.

Creamy Skillet Potatoes

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2010
Gave it a 4* instead of 5* only because I think I liked them more than my fellow diners. Used 'baby' potatoes cut in half. Used yogurt instead of sour cream. I found them to be full of flavour - something I personally find very important in my recipes.

Beef Bulgogi

Only change was to use brown instead of white sugar. Did it on the Bar-Bee and served it up with white rice, steamed dumplings with a peanut (butter) sauce.

Fruited Curry Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2010
Wonderful salad!!! - served it up on green salad. Be careful toasting the nuts, mine burned a little - still added them and they didn't mess up the dish at all.
