Minnesota Golf Course Chili

Loved it!!!! Only change was to double sugar (brown - not white), add cumin, cinnamon and worstershire to the brew.

Connie's Zucchini "Crab" Cakes

Did the salting and draining in the collander-thing with the grated zucchini before mixing. I'm sure that this aided in the forming of the patties and the frying. Couldn't find Old Bay seasoning (U.S. only?), so I went with a garlic/red pepper seasoning that worked quite well. Dish was very flavorful, light and tasty - we loved it. Did it again - still couldn't find 'Old Bay' - this time I used the suggestion of someone who said to make my own 'copy-cat' Old Bay. I aslo made a 'Garlic Aioli' sauce (this site - with extra garlic) for the cakes..........WOW!!!!!!! - what flavor!!!!!

Cucumber Raita Burgers

Used local veggy burgers (not fzn). Prepared the dish as the recipe states. Wonderful light and tasty! The topping of yogurt and cucumber mixed with the other ingredients made the dish. Will do this one again!

Italian Spaghetti Sauce with Meatballs

Should have stayed with lean burger - was afraid the meatballs would be dry so I went with medium - too much fat left in the recipe. Added canned mushrooms and red pepper. Had always pre-cooked meatballs in the skillet - will do it this way from now on - tender, flavour - MUCH better than skillet cooked! Overall, a lovely meatball dish.

Lebanese Lemon Salad Dressing

Zucchini e Pomodori Gratinati (Zucchini and Tomato Gratin)

Not too impressed. Followed the recipe. Found 8 min to be too long too cook the zucchini slices per side. Burned the earlier ones - dropped time down to 5 min per side. Very time consuming to cook the slices, (even with 2 fry pans going at the same time). Given the work involved, the overall taste, (neutral) and the calorie intake (pretty high) - I'll probably not try this one again.

Shoepeg Corn Casserole

Very nice, tasty, filling dish. Only mod was to saute the onion, celery, green pepper a bit prior to mixing with the rest. Used 1/2 of the sour crean called for.

Garbanzo Stir-Fry

Did not use fresh Basil (none in store), or fresh cilantro (girlfriend doesn't like) so I used dried basil. Found the dish to be lacking in flavour. Next time, I'll add the suggested raisins and maybe curry or something else to beef up the flavour. GREAT on the calories and cost, ($11.00).

Deliciously Sweet Salad with Maple, Nuts, Seeds, Blueberries, and Goat Cheese

Loved it! Used regular balsamic (had it), pancake syrup (had it), olive oil (you guessed it) & dressing was fantastic! Only thing I might do next time that would improve an already faultless salad might be to lightly toast the nuts.

Elaine's Sweet and Tangy Loose Beef BBQ

Loved it! Only change was to add onion soup powder to the water. Took between 5-6 hrs on low for this to be tender enough to shred. Served on large sesame hamburg buns. Very, very nice! Only problem - son, girlfriend not crazy about shredded beef on a bun.

Tava or Turkish Stew

As per the originator of the recipe, I cut the chicken into cubes and placed them in the casserole with the rest of the ingredients - raw. Oven at 350F, I cooked it for 35 min + 10 min to melt the cheese. Chicken was still raw when served. Had to 'nuke' the plates in the microwave. Either add another 15 min or saute in a skillet (like the editor said). I found the dish to lack in flavour (I thought the roasted red bell pepper would really added flavour). Would have given a 3* - my girlfriend liked it better - therefore the 4*. Great for low calories!

Oatmeal and Applesauce Pancakes

The only things I did differently was to do 2/3 cup, (instead of 1/3 cup) milk as I found the batter to be just too thick otherwise. As well, I used plain yogurt instead of sour cream, (less calories). The flavour was among the BEST I've ever tasted in pancakes or waffles. A GREAT breakfast dish!!!!

15-Minute Chicken Parmesan

Instead of pre-cooked cutlets, I used fresh breasts dusted in a flour parmasan cheese mix. Then fried in a skillet. Overall, with the Onion-Garlic Tomato sauce; I found the dish to be relatively tasteless. Not crazy about it.

Au Gratin Potatoes

Easy and unique dish. I followed someone's feedback in that I mixed it all together in the pan before throwing it into the oven - made preparation even simpler. GREAT way to offer a potato dish a different way.

Cream of Chicken Breasts

Very easy, very tasty, very calorie conscious (relatively). The only hassle was the 1.5hr wait for it to cook in the oven, (while people waited for their supper). Someone suggested sauteing in a skillet than cutting oven time to 30 min. May try that next time.

Italian Style Sausage

My girlfriend and I LOVED THEM! Minor mods: had no anise so used fennel. Used a bit of hot sauce as I don't like 'spicy'. No minced onion so I used minced garlic. Rolled them into sausage shapes - served up with spagetti & sauce. Light years better than store bought.
