Mongolian Beef and Spring Onions

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2010
Very, very nice - reminded me of take-out ginger beef. Boiled up some frozen broccoli and threw them in at the end. Used Chiese rice noodles. Only (minor) problem was that there seemd to be a bit too much sauce - might reduce the amount of water next time.

Rice with Goodies

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2010
Used brown rice (healthier). Pretty well followed the rest of the recipe the same as stated. More turkey would have been better as it lacked any real 'turkey' meat taste. Would perhaps double the turkey next time. Very tasty - liked it a lot.

Texas Jambalaya

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2010
We loved it! Used brown rice (healthy!). Found that pouring in tomatoes with liquid from the can resulted in a lot of liquid in the recipe. Liquid never really absorbed. Next time, might drain can (of tomatoes) first.

Pumpkin Spiced Latte

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2010
Found it to be a little too much milk - not enough coffee. I would drop it to 3 cups of milk and increase the coffee.

Alfredo Light

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2010
Minor changes: heated butter and sauteed onion and garlic. Whisked 3 tbsp melted butter with 3 tbsp flour in a saucepan. Once I had a roux, I added the milk, chicken broth, and salt/pepper. Along with the parmasan, I added a dash of powdered mustard, garlic powder and Italian spice.

Sage Pork Chops

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2010
Did not rub salt onto the chops - REASON: used 1 can of beef bouillon (already salty enough) instead of water and beef cubes. Added 3 teaspoon of starch to cold bouillon before adding to simmer - this created a lovely gravy.

Bikini Martini

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2010
Made this to bring to a 'Cocktail Potluck' where everyone brings their own cocktail and accompanying finger food. Very tasty, easy to make and easy to bring in one container. Just add grenadine to the glass. Reminded me alot of the taste of Mai-Thai's.

Tequila Cocktail Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2010
Very good - not too different from your standard cocktail sauce. Tiquila does give it a bit of a kick - nice. Observation - made it for 12 servings - 1/2 of that would have served up for 12 people.

Tim's Mac and Cheese

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2010
Followed recipe exactly, (except for crushed Ritz crackers as topping). I've been looking for 'the best' recipe for mac & cheese and finally found it - this one is the best! The only negative thing is IT IS RICH!! - watch out how much you eat..

Crunchy Chicken and Gravy

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2010
I love southern fried chicken and this easily comes in a great second - without the calories. Followed the recipe using whatever stuffing at hand (chicken). Wouldn't change a thing.

Cindy's Awesome Clam Chowder

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2010
Probably a 4.5*. I would give it a 5* as I don't like clams yet this is the best clam chowder I've ever tasted - probably because I LOVE bacon. My girlfriend gave it a 4* only because (A) too much bacon, (B) I bought baby clams - too small for her,(my bad).

German Currywurst

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2010
Loved it!!! - Followed suggestion to just use 1 15 oz can tomato sauce (not 3) - this gives you more than enough sauce. Knockwurst instead of kielbasa - and alot of curry powder if you want the taste. Leftover update: even with 1 15oz tomato sauce, there's still so much - I bought 3 more Knockwurst to add with the leftovers a couple of days later - no need to buy more sauce.

Beer Cheese Soup II

FANTASTIC!!!! - followed the recipe with essentially no changes. Followed someone's suggestion to make sure that I mix the corn starch with COLD water before adding - worked perfectly - thick soup!!

Cheesy Ranch Potato Bake

Used whatever potatoes I had at the time. As well, I only had a small amount of Creamy Ranch so I added it to Creamy Italian and Creamy Ceasar. Very, very tasty!!!

Quick and Easy Chicken Noodle Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2010
Followed others' recommendations and did the following - sauteed garlic, onion, celery and carrots in butter. Only then did I add the rest of the ingredients in the pot (except the noodles) and brought to a boil, covered and simmered 20 min. Cooked up the egg noodles separately then added to the pot (after draining)- simmered an additional 10 min. I had also added 1 can of cream of chicken soup to add some creaminess. Among the best chicken noodle soups we've ever had.

Connie's Zucchini "Crab" Cakes

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2010
Did the salting and draining in the collander-thing with the grated zucchini before mixing. I'm sure that this aided in the forming of the patties and the frying. Couldn't find Old Bay seasoning (U.S. only?), so I went with a garlic/red pepper seasoning that worked quite well. Dish was very flavorful, light and tasty - we loved it. Did it again - still couldn't find 'Old Bay' - this time I used the suggestion of someone who said to make my own 'copy-cat' Old Bay. I aslo made a 'Garlic Aioli' sauce (this site - with extra garlic) for the cakes..........WOW!!!!!!! - what flavor!!!!!

Cucumber Raita Burgers

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2010
Used local veggy burgers (not fzn). Prepared the dish as the recipe states. Wonderful light and tasty! The topping of yogurt and cucumber mixed with the other ingredients made the dish. Will do this one again!

Italian Spaghetti Sauce with Meatballs

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2010
Should have stayed with lean burger - was afraid the meatballs would be dry so I went with medium - too much fat left in the recipe. Added canned mushrooms and red pepper. Had always pre-cooked meatballs in the skillet - will do it this way from now on - tender, flavour - MUCH better than skillet cooked! Overall, a lovely meatball dish.
