Asian Orange Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2008
Good but not great. Put a little sesame oil in with the olive oil. Flavor was there but needed a bit more - my fault as I didn't marinate long enough. Next time I will and it'll probably be a 4*.

Red Lentil Curry

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2008
Very, very tasty dish. Followed recipe exactly except for green lentils instead of red (had them).

Shepherd's Pie V

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2008
Followed recipe with following exceptions: added fresh sliced mushrooms, red pepper, green pepper. Didn't have Rosemary so used Thyme. Ok dish - girlfiend, son liked it. Possibly due to substitution - seemed to lack something, (flavor-wise)

Thai Peanut Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2008
Followed the recipe to a "T" except for 'Crunchy' peanut butter instead of 'Smooth'. Dish was wonderful. My girlfriend was in heaven.

Lime Chicken Soft Tacos

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2008
Wasn't overly impressed. Chicken had faint lime taste to it. Otherwise, not very exciting.

Hearts of Palm and Spinach Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2008
TASTY! This dressing was one of the nicest I've had - chock full of flavor. Only change to recipe was the use of sunflower oil instead of canola - as it was all I had. Surprised that caloric level is so high.

Spicy Peach-Glazed Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2008
Very, very nice dish. Rubbing cinnamon and ginger into the chops was an aromatic job - loved it. Only change, had curry paste instead of chile paste. The chops were thick (1 in, but 8 min per side may have been a shade too long.

Blue Cheese Dip II

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2008
Did the job ok - flavor-wise. Found it to be a little too thick - had to add more mayo & sour cream to lessen the thickness of the sauce.

Potato Latkes I

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2008
I LOVE LATKES!!!....and this recipe is perfect. I read up on the proper way to prepare them (on this site) and did 2 things different that I had not done before. Make sure as much water is out as possible (using a clean dish cloth as cheese cloth was nowhere to be found), and made sure the veg. oil was HOT (a little higher than mid point on my stove between med.and high. They came out perfect. Kept them on a paper towel on a cookie sheet (kept separate) in the oven at 225F when they came out of the skillet. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED - a rare 5*

Spaghetti Salad III

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2008
Prepared as directed. Good points - relatively quick, easy to prepare, filling meal. So-so point - lacked something in the flavor dept. Don't know that I'd try this one again.

Doreen's Ham Slices on the Grill

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2008
Used half the brown sugar - rest of recipe stayed the same. Very, very nice treatment to ham on the BARBEE. Will definitely do this one again.

Zucchini Egg Bake

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2008
Nice, light recipe for a hot summer night. Only change to recipe, used dried herbs as fresh is too wasteful/expensive. I'm sure though, that the flavors would have been even better with fresh. Never know what to do with leftover fresh herbs. Freezing doesn't seem to be an option.

Oregon Salmon Patties

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2008
Followed the recipe with the exception of using butter/olive oil instead of shortening. Found the mix to be too wet when trying to make patties. Had to add 'alot' of bread crumbs to help out. Recipe came out ok in the end.

Pasta Primavera with Italian Turkey Sausage

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2008
3.5* - good recipe. Had to sub Italian Mild Pork sausage as I couldn't find Turkey. As someone said, it's a good change from tomato sauce-based pasta dishes.

Pork Chops Stuffed with Smoked Gouda and Bacon

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2008
Absolutely adore smoked gouda to begin with. Only change was to use boneless chops maybe an inch thick, and turkey bacon to cut the calories. Incredible mix of flavors. Will do again for sure!

Very close to a regular marguerita. Couldn't find "Limeade" so I went with lemonade mixed with lime juice. Replaced water with 7-up. Used Corona Light. Crowd loved it!!

Beer and Brown Sugar Steak Marinade

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2008
MOST DELICIOUS STEAK/MARINADE I'VE EVER HAD! Made no changes to the recipe except using Rib-eye 12 oz steaks. Used Guiness, and marinated for about 1 hr in a bag in the fridge. Steaks were to die for.....HIGHLY recommended!

Chicken with Asparagus and Roasted Red Peppers

Reviewed: May 28, 2008
Followed the recipe exactly. Found that chicken broth was gone by the time the chicken breasts were done (15 min) Necessary to add more of the same. Overall, the dish was good, chicken was moist but it could have used more spice to liven up the flavor. Good reduced calorie meal. Had it again, no change. Girlfriend gave it a 5*...............moves it from 3* to 4*.
