Chicken Garlic Pizza

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2008
Different but not much better than standard homemade pizza. Used spaghetti sauce over herb butter layer. Would probably do it again for something different - with shrooms and minus the tomato sauce.

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2008
Followed the recipe with the following exceptions based on other's experience. Used 2 cans of cream of chicken, chicken broth instead of water, cooked on low 9 hrs and added can of biscuits 2 hrs prior to eating - put on high at that point. Did not cut up chicken prior - whole breasts. MAN this was good! Well worth waiting for all day

Hamburger Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2008
Very nice soup for a cold winter's night. Didn't change anything. Only problem was that my pot wasn't large enough for the soup - had to remove some of the liquid prior to serving. Great leftovers to take to work!

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2008
Normally I do not mod the recipe except this time, (because of good suggestions). Did chicken and veggies in chicken stock instead of straight water. Baked bottom pie crust for 7 min. prior to filling going in. Baked pie at 375 F. for 45 min. Used 9" pie crust - wasn't large enough. Too much filling for 9". Lost filling during the filling/baking. Suggest aluminum foil on a cookie sheet (under the pie)to minimize mess. Might also suggest a larger pie crust 11"-12"?? What a taste!!!!

Potato Leek Soup I

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2008
Somewhere around 3.5*. There was not enough chicken stock for the potatoes - had to use it all during the boiling. Followed the recipe with exception of adding garlic to sauteeing of leeks. Overall, soup seemed to be too much like mashed potatoes.

Caramel Apple Pork Chops

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2008
Chops had next to no flavour. The amount of sauce based on what the recipe called for was limited to say the least. Next time I would get thinner chops and double the incredients that go into making the sauce.

Broccoli Chicken Casserole IV

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2008
Followed suggestions to: use a grocery store broiled chicken, cut up bones removed. Used fresh/steamed broccoli. Used shredded cheeses (for pizza - in fridge). Used garlic powder instead of basil. Did not come out watery at all. People loved it!.

Mad Hatter Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2008
Very, very good recipe. Each Grey Cup football match, I'm asked to bring cole slaw. Each time, I bring one from ALLRECIPES. They loved this one. Several said it was a unique, tasty side-dish to the baby backs.

2-Step Garlic Pork Chops

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2008
Very, very nice. If you like garlic....I minced 4 or 5 garlic buds and sauteed them up with the chops. Used cream of mushroom with onion. After pulling the chops out, I used a spatula to get everything off the skillet bottom, (read: sauteed garlic). Mixed it all together, (soup, milk, pan 'drippings'). Sauce was to die for.

Pork Chops with Apple Curry Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2008
Did not change the recipe - very tasty! Scaled down to 4 servings - alot of liquid. As per others, 30 min at 350 was perfect.

Chunky Tomato Potato Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2008
Made for 6 servings. Tripled the amount of garlic called for. At the point where the recipe says to add milk and bring to boil - there wasn't really enough liquid. Added the water/boullion at this point to get all veggies under the liquid level to cook them. Came out perfectly - veggies were not too hard, not too mushy.

Easy Tuna Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2008
Tasty, hearty casserole. made no changes but might suggest doubling the amount of soup as I found it to be a little on the dry side. Other than that, great dish.

Caramelized Brussels Sprouts with Pistachios

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2008
Not crazy about Brussels Sprouts but my girlfriend likes them. Made no change to the recipe and they were about as good as Brussel Sprouts could be. Tasty, mix with onions was very nice. Loved it!

Mushroom-Stuffed Chicken Breasts in a Balsamic Pan Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2008
Did this dish for my girlfriend's birthday as she loves goat cheese. Made no change to the recipe - used Lobster dehydrated shrooms. The taste was to die for. Only warning might be to have aluminum foil ready to place on breasts near end of 45 min cooking period. Meat was cooked to perfection, but skin was a little more cooked than I'd like. HIGHLY recommended - P.S. Gravy was WONDERFUL!!

Spanish-Style Chicken and Sausage

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2008
Very good recipe. Made no changes other than putting more spice in that it called for. Even so, the Italian sausage offered up by far the most taste in the dish. Only change would be to triple the amount of spices called for by the recipe.

Mushroom Lentil Barley Stew

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2008
Made this due to need for lower cholesterol recipes. Only change was to not use so much pepper. Result: Girlfriend found it to be too 'earthy' tasting - my reaction was akin to eating too much baked beans! Don't think we'll be doing it again..
