Kicky Steak Strips with Rice

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2009
Followed recipe. Hard part was cooking thinly cut steak strips "on each side". Did it like stir-fry. Worstershire flavour was far from over-powering, (marinated 30 min in fridge). It was a good dish...

Swiss Chicken Casserole II

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2009
Wow! - combine two things I love - chicken & stuffing and this gets the magic 5*. Followed the recipe exactly and the flavour was wild. The only thing I'd wish to improve is to somehow get the sauce into the chicken breast, (partially slice/score the breasts prior to putting in oven & then pour sauce over??) Will try this next time. The next time - I used someone else's idea in cutting the chicken into cubes. Ended up better than first time - more flavor in the chicken.

Slow Cooker London Broil

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2009
A 3.5* - would have been a 4* but after aprox 9 hrs this flank was still tough!! Flavour was great but in following the directions, even after this amount of time on low - it was just too tough.

Sausage and Mushroom Calzones

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2009
First time I've worked with frozen bread dough - ugh...not easy (seems you really need a rolling pin). To thaw quick, I placed the frozen loaf in a closed bag into hot water in the sink - thawed in minutes. Used fresh mushrooms, red, green peppers diced and sauteed in olive oil. Put this together with browned mild Italian sausage meat (cooked up with garlic powder & Italian seasoning). Really messy with the floured counter top but eventually got the mixture into the bread. Once the calzones were in the oven - I noticed I forgot the cheese! Put the cheese on the top of each calzone. Got kudos on the great taste. Next time should be easier.

Enchilada Casserole III

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2009
Very nice dish. Threw some cumin in with the beef. Used pre-shredded Mexican cheeses. Used black beans, (minus liquid) instead of re-fried beans.

Chicken Breasts with Lime Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2009
Love breaded chicken! This was a lovely recipe. Only change was to try to cut calories by following someone's suggestion to 1/2 the amount of butter in the sauce by cutting it with chicken bouillion (3 TBSP butter / 3 TBSP bouillion). The sauce was the perfect accent to the breaded chicken - 4 min per side on medium was enough. Served with mashed potatoes mixed with sauteed shrooms.

Had some leftover steak - really nice way to use it up! Made a citrus dressing from this site. Very, very nice salad.

Stuffed Peppers

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2009
Good recipe. Followed it without deviating. Found that I didn't have enough tomato sauce at the end - only enough to pour a little on top of each pepper - certainly not enough to baste.

Roast Chicken with Rosemary

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2009
Started out wrong when I couldn't find fresh rosemary. Ended up selecting fresh savory. Followed reviewer alterations: Cooked on rack but got no crispy bottom. Quartered potatoes, carrots - came out dry and not cooked enough. Dumped can of chicken broth in bottom of pan - not enough to cook/keep moist vegetables?

Sarge's EZ Pulled Pork BBQ

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2009
First time I've done this dish - always wanted to. No change to recipe - cooked on low for 8hrs, shredded and added Hickory BBQ sauce - served up in toasted kaiser rolls. What a taste!

Quick Greek Pasta Salad with Steak

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2009
a 4.5*.....used a N.Y. Striploin - well aged. Accidently forgot the basil and parsley. EXTREMELY flavorful dish - loved it. Strongly recommended for steak salad lovers.

Chicken Garlic Pizza

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2008
Different but not much better than standard homemade pizza. Used spaghetti sauce over herb butter layer. Would probably do it again for something different - with shrooms and minus the tomato sauce.

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2008
Followed the recipe with the following exceptions based on other's experience. Used 2 cans of cream of chicken, chicken broth instead of water, cooked on low 9 hrs and added can of biscuits 2 hrs prior to eating - put on high at that point. Did not cut up chicken prior - whole breasts. MAN this was good! Well worth waiting for all day

Hamburger Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2008
Very nice soup for a cold winter's night. Didn't change anything. Only problem was that my pot wasn't large enough for the soup - had to remove some of the liquid prior to serving. Great leftovers to take to work!

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2008
Normally I do not mod the recipe except this time, (because of good suggestions). Did chicken and veggies in chicken stock instead of straight water. Baked bottom pie crust for 7 min. prior to filling going in. Baked pie at 375 F. for 45 min. Used 9" pie crust - wasn't large enough. Too much filling for 9". Lost filling during the filling/baking. Suggest aluminum foil on a cookie sheet (under the pie)to minimize mess. Might also suggest a larger pie crust 11"-12"?? What a taste!!!!

Potato Leek Soup I

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2008
Somewhere around 3.5*. There was not enough chicken stock for the potatoes - had to use it all during the boiling. Followed the recipe with exception of adding garlic to sauteeing of leeks. Overall, soup seemed to be too much like mashed potatoes.

Caramel Apple Pork Chops

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2008
Chops had next to no flavour. The amount of sauce based on what the recipe called for was limited to say the least. Next time I would get thinner chops and double the incredients that go into making the sauce.

Mad Hatter Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2008
Very, very good recipe. Each Grey Cup football match, I'm asked to bring cole slaw. Each time, I bring one from ALLRECIPES. They loved this one. Several said it was a unique, tasty side-dish to the baby backs.
