Raspberry Custard Kuchen

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2010
This was good if I thought of it as just a bar and not Kuchen. However, for a kuchen recipe it was nothing like I was used to growing up with. I will go back to grandma's recipe that has much more of the delicious cream center.

Slow Cooker Swiss Steak

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2009
This was good if you're looking to make beef stew. I wasn't. This was not my idea of what Swiss Steak is. But if what you are craving for is a hearty beef stew, this is a good recipe to try.

White Chili with Ground Turkey

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2009
The only reason this got four stars instead of five was because of the few little tweaks I made. If you want a thicker chili, use less broth. I did add a cornstarch slurry to help thicken it a bit more. I also added in a quarter can of diced jalepenos, we like things a bit spicy. I also only put in a 1/2 tsp of cinnamon. Simply because I was too scared. But it was good and I probably could have used more and it would have been just fine. A MUST is the chopped cilantro, sour cream, shredded jack cheese, and taco chips on top. This completes the dish. This was a GREAT change from red chili with hamburger. Try it...you will like it!

Amy's Barbecue Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2008
OMG, I love this salad! When I make a salad for a meal it is usually more on the greek side..feta, balsamic, bread, etc. So this was a WONDERFUL change. My husband LOVED it too! I also added some red onion, chopped cucumber, red bell pepper, shredded cheese, and topped with crumbled tortilla chips instead of the onions. I too, as mentioned by other reviewers, tweaked the dressing. I used 1/4 c. ranch and 1/8 c. BBQ Sauce, as well as a Tbsp or two of Frank's Red Hot Sauce. We like a bit of heat. The dressing was fabulous and it made enough for 4 salads and I don't go very light with my dressing. Needless to say, this is going into my recipe box and will be made again and again. Thank you!

Chicken Pot Pie IX

My MIL and I made this for Sunday dinner. It was so easy and very delicious! It was gone by the end of the meal with just 4 of us eating it. Perfect for a gloomy wintery day. Will most certainly be making it again!

Harvest Slaw

DELICIOUS! I used a full 16oz. bag of coleslaw mix, and still had plenty of sauce. I also add a couple tablespoons of red wine vinegar, just because I like it. This recipe is going into the save file for sure!

Chocolate Cherry Biscotti

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2006
First time making biscotti. They turned out great! Wonderful with a hot cup of coffee. I made mine for holiday gifts for the neighbors. I dipped half of each cookie in white chocolate and drizzled with left-over melted chips. They will be beautiful presented in a mug along with a bag of coffee!

Sweet Russian Cabbage Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2006
Wonderful! I did only add about a 1/8 of a cup of sugar, which was plenty for me. I also browned the hamburger first. Once it was almost cooked through, I added all the veggies (including celery and mushrooms) but the cabbage. Sauteed those for a bit, which helps speed up the cooking process. I then added the liquid and cabbage, simmered for about a half an hour. It is very satisfying. Perfect for a cold winters day!

Soda Cracker Chocolate Candy

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2006
Absolutely delicious and baking doesn't get any easier than with this recipe! This is a must try! I baked a bunch to give to the neighbors for the holidays. Well...I may need to make another batch! ;)Don't let the crackers scare you off. Think of them like a crunchy wafer. Or think of the taste of a salty peanut with chocolate, same effect. Either way, try it...you love it!

Baked Spaghetti I

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2006
DELICIOUS and so EASY! I did make just a couple of slight changes- I made a sauce with about a cup of premade spaghetti sauce, a can of cream of mushroom and two eggs (to help bind). I also left out the peppers (just because I didn't have any). I then just layered the sauce among the rest of the ingrediants. It was SO GOOD! My four year old had it for lunch and supper and would probably have it for breakfast if I had let her! My husband did however mention that he would like it spicier, perhaps some spicy sausage added to it. Which I think would be great for just an adult meal!
