Cheesy Chicken and Potato Casserole with Bacon

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2014
Really good casserole, however it is really just hash-brown casserole with added chicken and bacon. I used hash-browns with onions and peppers. I also cooked my chicken in oil with salt, pepper and two cloves crushed garlic before shredding. I am not a fan of cream of chicken so I used cream of celery, as I usually do and a mixture of cheddar and velveeta for the cheese. Sometimes I make this with cubed ham and broccoli instead of chicken and bacon. Both variations are really good and my 4 kids devour it. Anything all your children will eat is a plus in my book!!

No Bake Cookies V

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2014
Same recipe my mother made when I was a kid, except I boiled for the 1 minute 30 seconds she did. I also use 1/3 cup cocoa. For the others that had issues with thiers setting up, you must bring these to a rapid boil that you cannot stir down before setting your timer, otherwise these will not set.

Sam's Famous Carrot Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2014
Great Carrot Cake. I made exactly as recipe stated except I omitted the raisins and realized at the last minute I did not have the pineapple, so I substituted 8 ounces of applesauce and 1 shredded granny smith apple, which worked out wonderful. I am not a carrot cake fan, but I did eat one small piece and it was really good. My husband and teen daughter (our carrot cake fans in the house) ate this non stop. I will make again.

All-Day Apple Butter

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2014
The family really liked this, I only used 2 cups if sugar and it was still very very sweet (used sweet apples). I diced the apples into thin small pieces and after 10 hours they still had not broken down, so I ran it through the food processor once it was done. Then put in sterilized half-pint jars. Great Recipe, but next time I will use a more tart apple(and still 2 cups of sugar 4 v) and put them in the food processor before cooking.

Best Ever Banana Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2014
This was pretty good. I made it mainly because it did not call for cinnamon and I have a child in my daycare that is allergic. I used sour cream instead of buttermilk simply because I did not have buttermilk on hand. Turned out pretty good and the kids liked it. I will make this again for my daycare kids, but for me I prefer a little more flavor, vanilla, cinnamon, brown sugar and applesauce in the one I make for our family.

Mom's Sticky Chicken From 1972

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2014
My family loved it. I made chicken legs (kids favorite) and wings. The only changes I made was to use 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup honey instead of the whole cup of sugar. I also added a tablespoon of corn starch to the water and put that in after it got bubbly. This helped thicken the sauce up a lot before I even put it on the chicken. The result was perfectly sticky chicken. Yummm. Only reason I gave it four stars was because the sauce needed a little tweaking to be thick and sticky and the dish is time consuming to make.

Bacon Ranch Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2014
Love this Recipe! Easily adaptable to what you have on hand. I always add carrot shreds, green pepper, red onion, black olives and cherry tomatoes to mine. (Love Pasta salad with tons of veggies) I also half the mayo and substitute the other half with sour cream and I use fresh garlic.

Creamy Ice Coffee

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2014
I am not an iced coffee fan, that being said, this is fantastic! My teens and hubby love this too. I do not use the liquor, instead I actually mix 1 tablespoon of pure cocoa into the coffee. The 1/3 cup of sugar is just enough to make this slightly sweet. I like mine a little creamier so I add extra half and half to mine after I pour it into my glass. SOOOOO Good!!

Apple Snicker Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2014
The kids loved this recipe! I used White Chocolate Pudding instead of butterscotch and bought a bag of snickers mini's instead of cutting up bars. I really liked it too, it reminded me somewhat of a caramel apple.

Lemon Lu Lu Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2014
Great Recipe! Made this tonight and my family loved it. The cake is very moist. The only change I made was to use two cups of confectioners sugar and 1/2 cup lemon juice for the glaze topping, I also omitted the melted butter. What the recipe called for just seemed like too much and I did not want a soggy cake. After pouring the glaze on the cake I put it in the fridge to chill for a few hours. It turned out perfect with the adjustment and not too sweet. Thanks for the great recipe!

Cowboy Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2014
Great Recipe! Everyone loved this cookie! The only adjustments I made was to add a teaspoon of vanilla and 3/4 cup chopped pecans. The batter was a bit wet as others suggested but did not affect the cookie.

Black Magic Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2014
Wonderful Moist cake. I added 1 ounce of dark melted chocolate to the batter. I also did not have buttermilk so I used 1/4 cup regular milk and 1/4 cup sour cream instead. I frosted it with the chocolate sour cream frosting from this site and it was divine. Everyone loved it! My 3 year old kept saying "MMMMM this good momma" the whole time he ate it!

Chicken Milano

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2014
Great Recipe! I doubled everything and added green and yellow pepper(large family). Also added extra garlic, some reviews complained of runny sauce, so I reserved 1/4 cup of the chicken broth and mixed one teaspoon of cornstarch in it and poured it when the sauce came to a boil, this thickened it up nicely without it being too gravy like. One of my teens had a friend over and she told her that it was better than going out to eat. Strong praise indeed from picky teenagers!!Thanks so much for the recipe!

Best Tuna Casserole

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2014
This is a good recipe, however I have made lots of adjustments which I think make it better. I use cream of celery soup, a can of peas and carrots, half a jar of pimento's, 1/3 cup of milk and velvetta cheese which I cut into cubes and mix in the casserole. ( I also omit the onion and mushrooms) I did try the original recipe, there was just not enough flavor and it was a little dry.

Cherry Crunch

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2014
My family loved this. I am not a fan of cherries but my husband is, so I made one Apple and one Cherry. I loved the apple one. I took another reviewers tip and pressed half the crumb mixture into the pan and baked for about 10 minutes before adding the pie filling and sprinkling the remaining crumb mixture on top.

Salisbury Steak

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2014
This recipe is really good, but I do make changes to mine though. Instead of using condensed french onion soup, I use condensed golden mushroom, and add extra mushrooms. I also add chopped onion, green peppers, and a clove of minced garlic to my meat patties. Served with mashed potatoes and corn on the cob this is a complete comfort food dinner that my family loves!

Kentucky Biscuits

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2014
Excellent ! I am from Kentucky, and I make these all the time and have even used regular milk in a pinch! (Not as good as buttermilk but it gets the job done). These are just like my Mother's and Grandmothers and what I grew up with. Some reviewers have mentioned that the middle does not get done, which is probably true if you are following the recipe exactly. I cut them like the recipe says but slightly pull them apart so there is a small space between each of them or if I have time I use my round cookie cutter and cut them out instead. Leaving them clumped together will cause the outer biscuits to get hard and the inner biscuits to still not be done. These are perfect for good old fashioned sausage or bacon gravy which my whole family devours when I make it for Sunday breakfast!

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2014
This is a good recipe. The only changes I make is that after my dough is complete, I make three separate balls with it which I flatten out into large disks. I place each disk in a ziplock bag and chill in the fridge for about 2 hours. This makes it much easier to work with, by working with it in separate smaller pieces. If you need to make these in a hurry you can also place the bags in the freezer for about 20-30 minutes to speed up the chilling time. I am unsure why others had problems with them being sticky and not rolling.

Tater Tot Taco Casserole

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2014
Found this recipe while looking for something to use my leftover taco meat. This was great, I did not have enchilada sauce or black beans so I substituted a can of rotel and a can of ranch style beans. I also used a can of regular corn and added extra tater tots on top. We ate with sour cream and salsa. Everyone was a little skeptical about eating a tater tot Mexican casserole but they all loved it. My husband and teen daughters went back for seconds. Great recipe that can be adapted to whatever you have on hand. I will be making this again!!

Meatloaf Roll

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2014
This is good. I made the home made sauce which is an extra step but does have loads of flavor and makes the meatloaf tender. I did not add cheese because I did not have any and this was still really good. This is a time consuming meatloaf but can be broken into stages to make it easier. Next time I make it, I will make the sauce a day or two before and store in the fridge until I am ready to make the loaf. Thanks for the recipe!
