Classy Green Bean Casserole

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2006
One of my favorite recipes from this site! Always a winner and I make this for Thnksgvng. I do reduce the sour cream a bit & use the whole can of cr. of mushroom. Also add a can of corn to this. I LIKE canned Campbell's soups (they are comfort food to me) so I really, really enjoy this recipe. I can understand, though, if you don't like canned soups/sour cream combinations you probably wouldn't like this recipe. (: All to taste, and here's to comfort food!

White Chocolate Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2006
I have made this bread about 6 times. I think it is important to add the ingred. into the machine as stated and NOT to prep the yeast first. Otherwise, it will rise too high and push the lid of the machine open (as has happened to yours truly). It is not really a 'white chocolate' tasting bread (the name is a little misleading), but a sweet bread with a hint of cinnamon. A lovely breakfast bread. Great with coffee or tea.

These recipe is another of my favorites on this site. During last Christmas, I made these 3 or 4 times. People are requesting them again for this year, and luckily, I still have some of the brandy I bought! These are a definate 5 star recipe and on my Christmas cookie list. Thanks for the post!

Sour Cream Waffles

Don't be put off by the lack of liquid in this recipe! These waffles are great! A family favorite that I have added to our family cookbook. My 7yo requests these often.

Lemon Thyme Rice

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2010
Made this a couple of days ago to compliment baked fish. It was very good, thanks! I will make again. My SIL gave me some fresh thyme and I used that instead of the dried. Ease of preparation, had all the ingredients on hand. Might have needed a little salt included in the prep. Thanks for the recipe!

Crusty Potato Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2009
Very nice bread! Made by hand, shaped into two smaller loaves and baked on a baking stone at 350 for about 20 min., then I bumped temp up to 375 and baked for another 8-10 min. I think it was. Used for sandwiches today and it was perfect! Thanks!

Big Batch Kris Kringle Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2009
A really great cookie! I used all milk chocolate chips instead of cranberries and white chocolate, but can't wait to make these with the cranberries etc. I used a really good vanilla and this was devine! My new cookie recipe (: Hubby gave 2 thumbs up and I think there are only four cookies left (I halved the recipe just to try it).

Fresh Rosemary Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2008
Wow---this was phenomenal! I used 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour instead of the other stuff, combined with 1/4 cup of oatmeal. I used fresh, chopped rosemary from our garden. I have been wanting to make this bread for awhile now, and it didn't disappoint---so good! PS Only used about a 1/4 tsp. of black pepper since I was making this for my boys, 1 tsp. pepper seemed a bit much. Also shaped and baked in oven.

New Orleans Barbeque Shrimp

Reviewed: May 11, 2008
Truly amazing! I love BBQ shrimp. My husband made me a seafood dinner last night for Mother's Day, so I had about 1/2 a lb. of leftover shrimp to make something with. I cut the recipe in half & I made about 3 changes to the recipe: didn't have beer, subbed cooking sherry, did 1/2 butter & 1/2 EVOO, and I had to use fresh basil instead of dried (added the fresh basil to the sauteeing garlic and butter). Served with crushy French bread and I was in heaven! This is a great recipe, delish!!!!!

Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: May 4, 2008
Rated by my 9 year old: YUMMY! These are the best. We didn't have chocolate chips or raisins. They are warm & chocolatey! Mom's note: Accidently forgot the baking pwdr in the first batch but they turned out! Family really enjoyed, thanks! PS Did not add the cinnamon as I thought that would be a weird addition.

Ice Cream Cone Treats

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2008
These are so cute! I had heard of ice cream cone cupcakes but had never attempted---very cute & easy to do! I used a Duncan Hines Chocoate cake mix and pre-made chocolate fudge icing w/ sprinkles. My boys think I am very clever, LOL!

Peach Pie the Old Fashioned Two Crust Way

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2010
Wow! This was really good! Used homegrown peaches a friend gave us & wasn't expecting anything special, just wanted to get rid of the peaches. First peach pie I have ever made & it was great. Followed the directions & also followed advice of another reviewer to use a collander and sprinkle the peaches w/ lemon or lime juice. I used lemon but will try lime next time.

Sage Cornmeal Biscuits

I couldn't decide between cornbread and biscuits so I searched for a cornmeal biscuit. These were really good, paired with chicken and dumplings, excellent! Used butter instead of shortening.

Sugar Cream Pie I

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2010
Ease of prep but you do have to watch closely in both stages---the thickening and the broiling. Tasted some of the filling and it tasted really good. Will update as it is cooling in fridge now. (:Update: I have to give a very, very, VERY good!!!! Really enjoyed, so good once it set up and was chilled in the frig. I think the hardest part was waiting for it to be chilled enough to eat. But one of those recipes that is to die for!

Colleen's Potato Crescent Rolls

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2008
These are rising as I type this. I was going to make a suggestion...use the water you boil the potatoes in for the water in the dough. While the potatoes are cooling, pour the water into a glass measuring cup and let it cool. I do this all the time when I am making my potato water bread. Its a very frugal way to get more flavor into the bread. And you are using something that would normally go down the sink! Will update on taste...

Cindy's Turkey Salad

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2006
This is a really good salad that I have used with leftover turkey---in fact, I had to search for the recipe and couldn't find it (I thought it was 'carol's turkey salad' for some reason). I only use 1/2 tsp. of salt at the most in this, but otherwise, I love follow the ingred. list. Yummy! Thanks, Cindy! A true favorite, and I can't wait for the holidays to make this with the leftover turkey!

No Bake Cheesecake II

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2006
I really, really like this dessert and think makes an excellent autumn dessert with the apples. That said, there are many varieties that could be made. I have made this with both peaches and cherries. The first time I made this, I made it with a cooking group and there was some discussion about whether to use powdered sugar or reg. sugar. The reg. sugar gave the pie a grainy quality. The second time I made it, I used powdered sugar and used less, I think it was 3/4 cup.

Recipe to note to previous reviewer: This is my recipe and I actually use Cool Ranch Doritos in this. Try different flavors and see which one you like best. I have used everything from plain Fritos to BBQ flavored corn chips, but the Cool Ranch remains our fav. ~Tan
