Garlic Chicken Fried Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2007
Just a quick note: This is my recipe and my original recipe called for tablespoons of garlic pwdr and AR edited it to teaspoons. I had mentioned this in an earlier review but the review was deleted ): Also, granulated garlic really brings out that garliky flavor! but, 'tis all to taste---play with it and see what works best for you! ~Tan~ PS Also wanted to say that I used Italian seasoned bread crumbs for the seasoned bread crumbs. This also makes really good chicken for Chicken Parmesan, which I do often. (:

Banana Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2006
This bread is delicious!!!! I was looking for a recipe that used bananas and canned pumpkin to get rid of some of my Thanksgiving over-stock. This was the perfect recipe! Changes I made: I used 3 bananas instead of 2, allspice instead of pumpkin pie spice and only 1 tsp of that, and I added a tsp. of vanilla. Also, only used 1/4 c. of oil. Baked in mini-muffin pans for about 20 min. Thanks for the great recipe/idea! I would have never put banana and pumpkin together but it works wonderfully in this bread! Also, used 1/2 cup light brown sugar in lieu of the honey.

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

This had WAY too much salt! Next time I will only use 1/4 - 1/2 tsp. at most!

Cream Cheese Won Tons

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2007
I have used this recipe several times with great success! I don't use the clams in the filling, just the cr. cheese and spices. I also bake at 350 for 15-20 instead of frying in oil. I love to crimp the tops and make the flower shape like you get in Chinese restaurants. Thanks for the post!

Albondigas Soup I

Tip for making meatballs: roll meat mixture out like a snake, and cut off same sized pieces. Use a colander to roll meat pieces around, this will make them round. Perfect, same-sized meatballs everytime!

Delicious Egg Salad for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2008
Update: left in the frig for a bit, but I wouldn't suggest this because it got very runny. It was best when I first mixed it up. Still, a great egg salad/spread! I am going to use the filling for deviled eggs for Father's Day. Original review: I wanted a cold salad/spread for sandwiches for lunch today. I chose this one, and my husband said it tasted like his grandmother's egg salad, which is high praise indeed! Thanks for the post!

Lemon Icing

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2008
I halved this to use with a lemon box mix cake. It was really sweet! I mean REALLY sweet! It didn't spread too well, either, as it was really thick.

Garlic Lover's Pizza Crust for the Bread Machine

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2007
Update: Wow! I love this recipe! I have made this recipe probably 30 times, no kidding. Homemade "pizza" (actually cheese bread, no red sauce) has become a Sat. lunch or dinner tradition at our house. While I have tried several other pizza crust recipes on this site, this one remains our fav and the one I keep coming back to. The printed recipe card in my recipe box is so worn and tattered that I need to print a new one! I almost have it memorized. Also, wanted to say that 6oz. of liquid is 3/4 of a cup, according to my pampered chef liquid measure. Original review:I love that you can make the dough in the bread machine. I did add a little parmesan cheese as the machine was mixing it, and that helped it come together nicely. I then left it in the frig overnight and make it today for lunch for my boys. I made a cheese bread instead of traditional pizza (my 8yo doesn't like the red sauce).

Triple Threat Fruit Smoothie

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2006
This is a a favorite of ours, though it is a little 'seedy'. I have tried different variations of this, leaving out the kiwi or strawberries. We like this alot, and it is our favorite fruit smoothie combination from this site. I love all of the Vit. C in this.

Cadillac Pimento Cheese

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2006
This is my mom's recipe, and my sister submitted this, so I have to leave my comments about what I do differently...I usually sub sour cream for the cream cheese, its easier to stir. I also let this mellow in the frig a bit before serving. I love the kick the cayenne pepper gives this! Thanks, Mom! Love you!

Home Made Farmer's Cheese

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2007
This recipe worked wonderfully for me. It made a cream-cheese-like cheese. My only compliant might be that it wasn't salty enough. But I suppose you could put this on salty crackers and it would be fine. Note---I halved the recipe just to try it---1/2 gallon of milk, juice of 1/2 a lemon. Also, I didn't use fresh milk, I used week-old milk. Worked beautifully, thanks for the great recipe.

Stuffed Jalapenos

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2008
Made these for my FIL. Used about 8 garden jalapenos and halved the other ingredients (really just eyeballed the cheese and spice). I had all the ingredients and was looking for a way to use the peppers up plus 1/2 lb. of sausage, so this was perfect. I was also looking for a stuffed jalapeno recipe that didn't use cream cheese and wasn't deep fried, so doubly perfect! The rolling out the sausage was a bit messy, I ended up just pinching off sausage and molding around each pepper. My FIL said it was a 5 star (I asked him to rate 1-5 as I didn't want to eat any, not that fond of stuffed peppers), he really liked the flavor of the sausage/spice combined with the jalapeno.

Fish Tacos

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2007
Wow! The sauce for these was AWESOME!!! I cheated a little and used pre-breaded frozen fish. I also traded some of the cayenne pepper for Old Bay seasoning, and I used a lemon instead of a lime. Oh, and I used sour cream instead of plain yogurt. But I loved these! They were soooooo good! I wanted to try them with the actual fish recipe next! Yum, yum, yum!

Simple Cheese Straws

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2006
I added some spices to mine---paprika, and a little parmesan cheese. I also added a few tablespoons of water and a little more flour. We rolled them out like snakes. Also, I think the ratio of flour to cheese is off in this recipe, so I added a little more cheese. I think the secret here is to make a workable dough. If your dough is not workable, add more flour, or if its too dry, add a sprinkling of water. A little baking powder helps them not be so flat.

Easy Cheese and Garlic Scones

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2007
Good! I used about 1/4 tsp of garlic pwdr instead of the clove. Also, didn't have self rising flour so I used reg. flour + 2 tsps. bkg pwdr and about a 1/4 tsp. more of salt. This is a very nice basic recipe, might try 1/2 tsp. of Italian herbs in it next time. Or maybe a pinch of cayenne pepper for some kick. Could also be made with a variety of different cheeses...

Banana Oatmeal Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2006
I call this recipe 'BOB' (: Great bread, have made several times! I really like the addition of oatmeal to the traditional BB...However, I sub 1/2 applesauce, 1/2 butter to make it a bit healthier instead of the shortening. Turned out very nice! Thank you! Note: only use 2 small bananas in this in the posted pic. Only added a 'splash' of milk.

Icy Blender Lemonade

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2006
This was our favorite drink this summer. However, the first time I made it, I found it very pulpy. So the next time I made it, I juiced the lemons with my juicer. I also increased the sugar slightly as we like our lemonade sweet. Very refreshing, I love this drink! It really reminds one of the old-fashioned lemonade you get at the fair for $3-4 a plastic glass. Do yourself a favor---make this at home and sit on your padio and sip it slowly. Yum.

Yeast-Free Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2008
This gives new meaning to the term 'soda bread'. I thought I had really messed it up (didn't have self-rising flour, used 2 tsps. baking powder and 1/2 tsp. salt added to reg. flour, plus I baked in a pie plate), but the flavor was really, really good! I was so surprised at the taste. Kind of chewy and slightly sweet (I used 7-Up and only 2 tablespoons of sugar). There is something magical about this strange combination, but it works!

Fried Pork Chop

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2007
Very good basic chop recipe, I added spices to the flour before breading (paprika, garlic pdwr). And I added a little bit of Italian bread crumbs to the flour to help the coating stick.
