Italian Butter

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2008
I was really happy with this! Tastes like the olive oil and spice dip you get in nice Italian restaurants. Next time I might not add quite as much red pepper, as it was a tiny bit too spicy for me. But great combination of spices! Thanks!

Honey Curried Roasted Chicken and Vegetables

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2008
This recipe gave me lots of trouble. I am not sure if anyone has noticed, but the amount of cayenne pepper listed in the recipe is not in the ingredient list. I went ahead and added 1/4 tsp. Maybe the red pepper flakes and the cayenne pepper were meant to be one and the same? Anyway, that is just one complaint that I had with this...the other being that it took alot longer to cook than stated. The flavors were very good together, kind of a spicy sweetness. My husband didn't really like it and only ate a little.

The Best Banana Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2008
This bread was very simple, but I don't think it was the best. Something seemed to be missing...I used 1/2 brown, 1/2 white sugar, a splash of vanilla. I made this for my MIL but I am embarrased to say its not the best I have ever made.

Vodka Paralyzer

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2008
This was great! Has quite a kick. I didn't use the coffee liquer as original submitter suggested. Also, didn't have highball glasses so I used pina colada glasses. Thanks for the post! PS Also used Cherry Coke, gave a nice cherry flavor (:

Jam Kolaches

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2008
I thought the dough was very sticky to work with. The jams/jellies I used were probably not top quality, I read the reviews afterwards. Also, I agree with other reviewers that said they were not quite sweet enough. Thanks for letting me try a different kolache recipe! Also, I made round kolaches instead of the fold-over method. Tried to make a cream cheese filling but that was kind of redunant because the dough has cream cheese in it. Definitely needs a very sweet jelly or jam to off-set the lack of sugar in the dough.

Roasted Lemon Herb Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2008
I have made this recipe before and we really liked it. My husband requested it again, which makes it a definite 5 star! I make more of a paste with the spices and oil and use lemon pepper instead of lemon juice.

Cornish Splits

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2008
Kind of a cross between a muffin and a biscuit. I thought they would be more roll like. I did sub evaporated milk because I was out of regular milk. I also made in my bread machine. Used a muffin tin to bake them. Also, mine were done in less time, so watch them carefully.

Best Chicken Salad Ever I

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2008
Stormwalker, you and your brother are culinary geniuses! This salad was amazing! And so easily customized to what you have. I subbed slivered almonds for the pecans and added a bit more Miracle Whip. I also doubled all the ingred. except for the almonds/pecans (1 cup sounds like alot). Thanks so much for this awesome recipe, you rock!

Fry Sauce

I love this stuff! My mom used to serve it with shrimp. She never measured either, and I just spoon and taste also. Yum, thanks for posting! Its funny what is considered a "recipe"! Posted pic, served with fried pickles from this site.

Cheeseburger Buns

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2008
Followed the bread recipe exactly, but I didn't make the meat mixture. Instead, stuffed with ham and cheese. They were very good but browned very quickly. For that reason, I would reduced temp. a bit next time. Otherwise, pretty terrific recipe!

I like to make my eggs like this every once in awhile, the only differene is I scramble the eggs instead of frying them.

Very good! I was craving a loaf of homemade white bread and this hit the spot. I finished in the oven. Thanks for the post! Will keep this recipe handy.

Creamy Rice Pudding

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2008
Pretty good! My 4 year seemed to like it. I used leftover rice and skipped the first step. Didn't add the milk 1/2 cup of milk at the end, and my 4yo asked me to not put the raisins in it so I left those out. Loved the vanilla flavor!

Lemon Icing

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2008
I halved this to use with a lemon box mix cake. It was really sweet! I mean REALLY sweet! It didn't spread too well, either, as it was really thick.

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2008
One of my very best friends gave me an almost identical recipe for her Grandmother Minnie's cinnamon rolls. I made both hers and this one, and I like her recipe & directions a tiny bit better. Also, my husband likes the cream cheese icing better than the pure sugar based. Thanks for posting, this is a really great recipe and loved by many (as I can see all the 5 star reviews!)

Plum Dumplings

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2008
I am addicted to these ever since I tried Linda's plum dumplings on this site. I liked Linda's recipe a little bit better, thanks for letting me try a different recipe for this German/Austrian classic dessert. Didn't add the sauce to these, just sprinkled with pwrd sugar and crushed honey pretzels.

Sage Cornmeal Biscuits

I couldn't decide between cornbread and biscuits so I searched for a cornmeal biscuit. These were really good, paired with chicken and dumplings, excellent! Used butter instead of shortening.

Fried Mozzarella Cheese Sticks

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2008
My husband hated these. I didn't think they were so bad, but its more work than I wanted to put into something that is so unappreciated. He likes his Farm Rich cheese stick out of the freezer section, I think I will stick with those. Thanks for letting me try! PS These are done really fast, I kept turning them until they were brown. But if you wait too long (even a second), the coating will pop off the cheese.

Colleen's Potato Crescent Rolls

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2008
These are rising as I type this. I was going to make a suggestion...use the water you boil the potatoes in for the water in the dough. While the potatoes are cooling, pour the water into a glass measuring cup and let it cool. I do this all the time when I am making my potato water bread. Its a very frugal way to get more flavor into the bread. And you are using something that would normally go down the sink! Will update on taste...

Date Nut Loaf Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2008
I was cleaning out the freezer and found 1/2 a box of dates and 1/2 pkg. of pecans. Got on here and searched for a date nut loaf and this one was the recipe I decided on. I was going to take this to the school tomorrow and put it in the teacher's lounge but I just had to get into it. I was so suprised---it is amazing! I have eaten 1/2 the loaf already. I can't really taste the dates, its more of a nut loaf, but maybe that is because I subbed pecans for walnuts. But still---amazing! Very sweet and moist! Had with several afternoon cups of tea (: Thanks for the post!
