Too Much Chocolate Cake
About this Cook
I started dating a boy a few years ago and he is a master chef...not literally, but his food really is to die for! Anyway, I could barely boil an egg (he actually taught me the best way to do that too), and I knew it was time to learn. So here I am, I've been cooking over 3 years now, OH, and I married the boy!
My favorite things to cook
I LOVE baking and I am actually getting quite good at this aspect of the kitchen. I loved it the first time I made a great coconut cake from scratch and when my parents saw it, and ate it, refused to believe that I'd done it alone. It's extremely satisfying when people bite into your creations and then don't stop!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family has made two things every year at Christmas for as long as I can remember, and I will carry on the tradition with pride! Linzer Tarts and Pralines...YUM!
My cooking triumphs
I'm still all grins over my first, from scratch, coconut cake!
My cooking tragedies
The first time I tried creme brulee it was beyond pathetic. However, I've since tried again, bought the proper equipment, and had no troubles since.

Cream Cheese Cookies I
NOT GOOD AT ALL. I even used the suggested changes. I put in 8oz of cream cheese and cut back on the flour. They still tasted like bland flour cookies. I can't believe the ratings are as high as they are. I have never rated anything this low, but the consistency wasn't good, the flavor wasn't good, total waste. We threw them away after we each ate one...

Marshmallow Fondant
I made my first fondant this weekend and this recipe was great. I was terrified I was in way over my head and it came out perfect. I didn't end up using all of the sugar...I thought it became very dry. If you are going to make things like flowers, etc. you will want to let the fondant sit a few hours first, then form the shapes and let them harden for a good 2 days before putting them on the cake. Super easy recipe for a beginner and everyone actually thought it tasted pretty good too!

Too Much Chocolate Cake
This was really good. I will say that it didn't need to cook as long as the recipe calls, maybe 5 minutes less. Also, I added a pretty/sweet touch. I melted a half cup of the semi-sweets over the stove and then drizzled it over the strawberries and confectioners sugar topping. It looked really nice, and made the strawberries so yummy. Best eaten right out of the oven.
