Stacey's Hamburger Seasoning

Reviewed: May 18, 2012
I rarely eat burgers but acquired some humane, grass-fed beef at a farmer's market a couple of days ago. Organic, non-lot beef is less fatty so can be less flavorful than the majority of the mass-produced beef out there. The addition of Stacey's seasoning, plus a bit of steak sauce, yielded the BEST burger in memory. My partner said so (with a mouth full of delicious beef) and I immediately agreed. Our 17mo is often suspicious of new foods so we fed him earlier and I offered him a bite of my burger - he ate 5 bites! Thank you, Stacey. We will be using this spice mix in the future :-)

Six Can Chicken Tortilla Soup

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2010
This is a good base recipe. Like others have said, it's a bit bland so I add a pack of taco seasoning. For meat, I use ground or shredded chicken/turkey...or even ground beef (the latter with beef broth). This soup - and its variations - is a favorite in my household. Some peeps add shredded cheese and/or sour cream, but it's tasty even without.

Beth's Spicy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Delicious! We doubled the cinnamon, but followed Beth's recipe otherwise. This cookie was an instant favorite :-)

Mama D's Italian Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2010
Delicious! Like many, I rely on my bread machine when I am at home. However, I am currently visiting my boyfriend and had to make the bread from scratch for the first time in years...well, this recipe was easy and the bread turned out near-perfect. Thank you!

Chicken Breasts with Balsamic Vinegar and Garlic

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2008
My family really liked this. I reduced the Balsamic and it was still a bit strong but that might be because I bought it at the Italian Market. Hubby observed that the sauce would be good on potatoes.

Fig and Olive Tapenade

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2007
I served this at my toga party and everyone who would eat olives LOVED it. Even a few non-olive eaters braved it and enjoyed it. My DnD group ate the leftovers a week later and it was even better! All the flavors married over the week and it was perfect. The only thing I changed was adding green and black olives.

BBQ Chicken Salad

Reviewed: May 1, 2007
This was a yummy thing to do with leftover chicken. The only thing I changed was I eliminated the corn...due to my husband trying to be lower-carb.

Jen's Heavenly Egg Salad

Reviewed: May 1, 2007
This is pretty close to the way I have always made egg salad. The addition of lemon was a yummy change that I will keep in mind.

Chutney Chicken Salad

Reviewed: May 1, 2007
Wow! I made this for a party and served it on a hearty white bread as well as on low-carb wraps. The only change I made was adding some pre-sliced almonds. Several of my guests from that day have asked when I'll be making it again *lol* Oh! I almost forgot. I did not get out to get the chutney so I had to make it myself. I'm curious to find out how various chutnies will change this recipe. I look forward to finding out!

Dilled Shrimp Salad

I made this for finger sandwiches and it tasted very good. The only criticism I have is that it was pretty runny.

I made these for a party and they were a hit! And it was soooo easy. The leftover cream cheese mixture was great in crackers.

Spicy Lime-Cilantro Marinated Flank Steak

Reviewed: May 1, 2007
My family LOVED this marinade! Where I changed things: 1) I forgot to buy fresh thyme so I used 1Tbs of dried and 2) my limes were kinda small so I used three. Some of the reserved sauce is in the fridge and I'm thinking it would be good on veggie wraps this weekend.

Lemon Grilled Chicken

Reviewed: May 1, 2007
This made a very good marinade. Things I did differently: 1) I added .5 Tbs of crushed reds for zing and 2) I only marinated the chicken for 5 hours since I was using boneless, skinless breasts. It was a bit overpowering since I used the breasts instead of skin-on pieces. I will only marinate for about 2 hours in the future.

Black Bean Salad

Reviewed: May 1, 2007
Changes I made: 1) using only one can of corn (lower-carb husband) and 2) using half of a red pepper and half of a green pepper. Otherwise, it was spot-on. My family loved it and I will be making it again.

French Toast II

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2007
This was very good. I made it exactly as this recipe instructed. We do not eat white bread, but I forgot to make Challah the previous day...so I bought some basic white and dried it out on a plate for about 5 hours. The result reminded me of the simple french toast I grew up eating.
