Cake Balls

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2008
These are a great recipe. Everyone needs to know about an old way of "chocolate dipping" and I really believe you'll like this method much better than almond bark or using shortening. Use white chocolate, milk chocolate, or semi-sweet chocolate chips, melt in a double boiler with a half stick of Gulf wax. This is also known as paraffin wax and is found in any baking aisle. It hardens with the chocolate to create a shell, tastes awesome, and is completely digestable. I learned about it from my MIL for any dipping recipes (including strawberries). Hope this helps someone!

Tasty Collard Greens

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2009
Having roots in the deep south, I must say the turkey surprised me... I had thought the only meat for greens was fatback or hamhocks a very nice change to say the least! I want to suggest for those who don't know, it's easier when chopping the whole leaves if you lay 4-5 leaves on top of each other and roll them up cigar-style and "slice" across about every 1/4 inch or so. We also add Louisiana Hot Sauce at the table to taste.

Best Ever Cinnamon Pull Aparts

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2008
These were excellent! I was unable to find biscuit tins weighing 10 oz. so since I was doulbing it (we have a family of 8) I bought one of the four packs. I used a whole stick of butter and added a tsp. of vanilla. I cut back to 1 &1/3 cup sugar and 3 Tbsp. cinnamon. I cut up the biscuits as directed and put them in a 9x13 greased cake pan. Melt the butter, add the cinnamon/sugar mixture and stir and cook for a while to cut down on the grainy texture. I added 1 cup pecan pieces when it was at the texture I wanted and since this thickened it up, spoon it all over the top. Bake for 25 minutes and like the whole family said,"de-lish!"

Bavarian Style Meatballs

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2009
Everyone was asking for the recipe on this one. I substituted a plain can of tomato sauce and added some chili powder as I couldn't find it in my grocery store. A few suggested onions, maybe I'll try it next time. Thanks for a great recipe!

Whipped Carrots And Parsnips

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2010
I make something similar to this called a "parsnip puff". The extra steps I take make it so much tastier! After parboiling the carrots and parsnips together, mash them with a blender, stir in a 1/2 cup diced onions, 2 eggs, and salt and pepper to taste. Pour mixture into a casserole dish, sprinkle nutmeg on the top and bake until a knife stuck in center comes out clean approximately 25-30 mins. It tastes awesome!

Best Ever Jalapeno Poppers

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2009
Is there a better name for these? No way! These are the absolute best. A little work involved, but good things come to those who wait. I made 2 dozen peppers, and in the future, plan to make a large amount and try freezing them. Thanks!

Annie's Strawberry Dessert

I made this to take to a family gathering and everyone absolutely loved it! I followed Puma's suggestion for the strawberry topping and it was divine. A few suggested using blueberries or pineapple for a topping also. All around delicious! Thanks!

Restaurant-Style Buffalo Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2009
These are great and they definitely taste just like those served in a famous restaurant in our area. Don't suggest double battering the chicken though, it just doesn't taste the same. Follow the recipe!

Chocolate Bourbon Pecan Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2009
my husband doesn't like pecan pie, but he liked this recipe... co-workers all wanted the recipe. I put the chocolate chips in the bottom of the crust before I poured the "custard" in. Also put in extra chopped pecans to keep it more nutty/less custardy. Thanks!

Best Ziti Ever

This amount fed my family of 8 for dinner and lunch the next day! Everyone loves it. Tried it using homemade marinara and found it wasn't cost efficient. Love this recipe! We have it once a month!

Chocolate Banana Cream Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2010
I would've given it 5 stars... BUT since i chose to use my 9"cake pans I followed the recommendations listed here for eggs, oil, and milk. Baked for 28 mins., and it was very dried out. I love making my cakes moist! Personally, next time I will bake the cake as directed on the box and add the layers of *totally yummy goodness* =) I think too, it might taste good to use peppermint flavoring with crumbled andes mints layered... hmm other options to try?

Best Marinara Sauce Yet

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2009
Incredible recipe! I don't have a food processor (RIP time to buy a new one)so I used one of those handheld processors. I saute'd the onions and garlic then added in all the rest of the ingredients as well as a tsp. brown sugar. Made the sauce with meatballs for a sandwich, it was great!! Thanks Jackie!

Meatball Sandwich

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2009
I used the meatball portion of this recipe for sandwiches. We both thought using spaghetti sauce out of a jar would not be as good as marinara. So we used the best marinara recipe from this sight and it's awesome! Thanks for a good base for all future meatballs.
